The other day Sportsnet did a baseball plays of the week segment and Brock Holt's cycle was #3 or 4.

Outside of its rarity, what's so great about a cycle? It's just a numerical quirk because 1-2-3-4. You know what's better than a cycle? A single, double, and two homer game. Or a single and three homers. Or two doubles and two homers.

No-hitters and perfect games are notable because they are accomplishments of the highest baseball order.

A cycle is neat, but that's it. Show me four home runs or stfu.

Just rare really. Kinda funny that the hardest part in a cycle is hitting a triple.

Even with the unbalanced schedule, I think the two WC spots will be won by the AL East. The rest of the league is mediocre at best.

In that case, I guess we can count Reyes out of ever hitting for the cycle again...

Really not sure why Boston didn't send down Swihart and keep Kratz, there pretty dumb these days though.

Low batting average

Low batting average

That and Hanigan is due back on Wednesday, with Swihart likely to be optioned to AAA (even if they carry 3 catchers, it will likely be short lived, considering they may not have HanRam for the Toronto series.) And Kratz probably sees an MLB job around (Seattle is rumored to be the favorite), and didn't want to be wasting time in Pawtucket.

Holy s*** the Indians cannot hit.

9 hits tonight but awful with RISP.. they should be blowing out Tampa. TBH, Tampa has been even worse offensively.

You want to talk about a good trade. Trade Encarnacion to the Rays for one of their young starters. There is a trade. That is a team with Looney, and Elmore starting at 1st. What I would be doing is eating EE's salary offering him to the Rays in return for Karns. There is more than 1 playoff spot for the taking here.

Dickey/Greaseball was the one game I felt uneasy about in this series. Jays should aim for the next 2/3 (obviously 3/3 would be better but trying to be realistic).

Rays can't take on money, and may end up selling instead just to avoid huge financial losses they're headed for due to below-expected attendance, even with TV and revenue sharing money. So quit giving stupid trade ideas. And besides, the Jays are in contention... EE isn't going anywhere.

Did you.miss the part about eating EE salary

I wouldnt say Jays are in contention for one thing they are barely over .500

W-L is relative to the records of other teams, and every East team (and non-Royals or Astros team) have had comparable results so far. The Blue Jays are one game out of first.

This is the exact definition of being in contention.

A's scratch Sonny Gray. Chris Bassitt starts in his place against Rockies tonight.

Goins for Gray?

Goins can stick. He's untouchable!

Traded to us seems possible...most likely just missing a start though

If you want a gold chain, you need to give up some raw gold.

The trade make sense to both team

I doubt it, he's their equivalent of Marcus Stroman, but probably even better. Gray would command a big return.

Exactly. One winning streak for the Jays and they'll be in first. And another thing.. the AL is hyper-competitive right now, with 10 teams over .500, and a 7.5 game separation between the worst record and the wild cards. Basically, nobody is out of it. And the AL East is REALLY tight.. only 1 game separates 1st and 4th, with Boston being deep in last. All the horrid teams are in the NL, in which the Cards, Dodgers and Giants dominate, and there are 8 teams below .500 (the Cards have 51 wins! No team is even close to that in all of baseball..) The NL East is especially bad.. only the Mets and Nats are contending, and the rest of the division is garbage. Same with the NL West with the Dodgers and Giants.. but neither of those two are running away with it, as Arizona is still a major risk.

Grady Sizemore is in the lineup again for the Rays.. what is it with Cash anyway? Butler goes into one slump and he's glued to the bench! And why is Sizemore still playing in the MLB? Looks like the Rays clock has struck midnight, and the team's about to regress back to the 4th/5th place team they were projected to be.

Just for proof:

so Susan Sussler, A's beat writer immediately retweeted a fake Chris Cotillo twitter post that he was traded. Didn't even bother checking.

Ned Yost once again hitting Alcides Escobar lead off and his best hitter 6th. Being a Royals fan would be so frustrating.

Yost is a horrible manager...my god. People get that right?
