ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Obviously its still up for grabs.. Not even much point in looking at the standing until August. You have to worry about your own team and the rest will fall into place. I bet raysjays didn't even pay attention to what you said here...lol. Also, I would say first step for the Jays would be to get back to .500. We'll go from there...hopefully sooner rather than later.

Such as this week.. after the Astros, we have the circus that is the Marlins (featuring Giancarlo Stanton and his 500 ft HRs.)
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Can't worry about standings or how many teams ahead of us until August. There are so many mediocre teams and no great or really bad teams, so everyone is kind of bunched together. There will be more separation as the year goes on. Take care of your own s*** and let whatever happens happen. Obviously it helps if the AL East teams lose, though.

And soon, the Jays will start playing AL East teams again, which will give us a chance to put some separation.. and hopefully we can beat the Rays soon! Sooner or later, the Rays are going to fade.. there's not enough offense to help the strong pitching, especially once they face better offensive teams.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Rays tied the score, 1-1. Expecting the M's to score 2 runs in a game might be too much to ask.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Anyone watching the game? I just got home and saw the box score showing they scored on two wild pitches. But this was what was written for the second one. That's got to be one great wild pitch to score from first. Logan Forsythe grounded out, shortstop to first Steven Souza flied out to center Asdrubal Cabrera walked Asdrubal Cabrera scored on wild pitch Jake Elmore lined out to center

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I am watching. It was Kevin Kiermaier that scored after tripling. I think your box score source is wrong. yeah it's just Yahoo being Yahoo
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Carson Smith looks so good. Did I jinx him yet?
LTR Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Can Dickey keep the win-streak alive? 51% chance we win tomorrow.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 It's weird. I just expect the Jays to win now.... every game. As oppose to finding away to give the game away.

Praxis Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Just saw this graph and was actually pretty shocked at how low the Blue Jays ranked in attendace over the last 15 years or so. With Kansas City coming good, we might slip even lower after this year. Makes our budget look positively generous from Rogers. http://www.hardballtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/AttendG.png
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Why are you surprised? Seems about right for a MLB team that has not played a meaningful game in 15 years, while every single one of those other teams have gone to the post season at least twice.

I don't know, it's just that we have such an inferiority complex here vs. the States and Toronto is always talked up as such a big league city; given that I'm just genuinely surprised at how poor the turnstiles have been. This graph doesn't make it seem any better: http://www.hardballtimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/ResPerTeam.png
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 So Kanas needs Starters and we need pen help.... trade partner? Dickey, Thole, Estrada and Wolf, PTBNL (Boyd, the pimp or Alford) plus 2-5 mill For Holland, Davis and Finnegan

And TB is going to sink to Expos levels soon at their current pace. And Cleveland's attendance is more likely to sink below us than KC's... that charts is from between 1998-2014. Kansas City would have to win for several years before the Jays have to worry.. and I don't see it happening.

Besides, the Royals don't really have the money to take on more payroll at this point.
