G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Jesse Sanchez Source: Top Cuban pitching prospect Yasiel Sierra, 23, has left the island & is seeking residency outside of Cuba. Believed to be in the DR. So are you but does anyone REALLY know... LOL. JK
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 So who will give Yasiel Sierra the big bucks? And is he eligible for this year's IFA sign-fest???

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Yomiuri Giants Sign Juan Francisco By Mark Polishuk [April 21, 2015 at 11:35am CDT] Nippon Professional Baseball’s Yomiuri Giants have announced the signing of third baseman Juan Francisco to a one-year contract, The Japan Times reports. Francisco will receive 140 million yen (or roughly $1.17MM) in the deal. Francisco hit .220/.291/.456 with 16 homers in 320 plate appearances with the Blue Jays last season, though most of that production came early in the season — Francisco posted a .961 OPS over his first 126 PA and just a .613 OPS in his other 194. He also struck out 116 times in 2014, and his 36.3% strikeout rate was the second-highest of any hitter in baseball with at least 300 PA. This combination of power and strikeouts has defined Francisco’s career, as he has a .236/.297/.439 slash line, 48 homers and 375 strikeouts over his 1091 career PA with the Jays, Brewers, Braves and Reds. He was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox this offseason, non-tendered and then signed to a minor league deal by the Rays before opting out after he didn’t make their Major League roster.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 He's going to be a star there, just like that right-hander that hit 50 last season (I forgot his name) "36.3% strikeout rate was the second-highest of any hitter in baseball with at least 300 PA." wonder who was worse - zunino?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I know it's only 13 games, but boy is the AL mediocre! It's basically Detroit, KC.. then a bunch of teams, including Toronto, a game or 2 within each other. Notable mediocrity is in the AL East and AL West.. Houston leads the West right now because the Angels are garbage (they can't hit outside of Trout and the pitching has been mixed), Seattle is struggling with its pitching staff outside of King Felix, and the Rangers are the Rangers, being awful. And I don't see a real favorite in the AL East right now either..

Probably not much more than what you have now.

I understand.. what I meant was that except in the AL Central, there's no real runaway team so far. Could be worse.. you could be in the NL East or Central, where there are bad teams galore (Miami, Philly, Milwaukee, a below-expected Nationals team, and of course, the 4-10 San Francisco Giants.) And most of the NL has better teams..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Reyes back in the lineup, Travis day-to-day:
Governator Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Reyes trying to be a hero is going to cost him an extended trip to the DL soon.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Yup. We likely won't see him extend and/or dive for balls in either direction. So we lose on defense too.
baubau Verified Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Navarro again? FFS Gibby. I am honestly at the point where AA/Gibby should be let go. While having a amazing offseason getting Martin/Donaldson they choose to keep Navarro and his $5M when they admitted they could have gotten rid of him, choose not to reinvest that on a reliever/bench depth and chose to waste a year on Osuna/Castro. Good grief what a gong show. Reyes trying to be a hero is going to cost him an extended trip to the DL soon. Over/under that he gets injured this series?

Good grief what a gong show. Over/under that he gets injured this series? I'm not upset that Navarro is on the team but he doesn't deserve to be babied by Gibby. He's a very capable back up catcher and that should be his damn role. I feel like Gibby is just giving cookies & brownies to Edwin & Navarro and it's pretty pathetic. Smoak should be starting first base today and his numbers are being overlooked thus far. I mean he's sporting a .385 OBP with his limited play. Smoak/Valencia need to be platooning 1B while Edwin should be focusing on his bat anyway, he's not getting paid for his glove so accept your role as a legitimate DH and start doing damage already. and yea I give Reyes about 4 games.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Yup. We likely won't see him extend and/or dive for balls in either direction. So we lose on defense too. And how is that different from normal reyes?

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Over/under that he gets injured this series? I'll say he comes out by or after the third AB of tonight's game. How effective can a RHH Reyes be while facing a righty anyway? It's something he probably hasn't done in over a decade.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Adam Eaton admitted that the new( $24 million ) contract impacted his play . " Tried to do too much " f***ing idiot

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I must be dumb or something and can't find it posted elsewhere but Addison Russell is debuting tonight for the Cubs. Must be so exciting to be a fan right now.
