G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Wow what an embarrassing game for Lawrie. Bet he broke stuff after.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I feel like im the only person who cant stand Vin Scully for more than 30 minutes. Yer dumn...Best Ever!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I still think Lawrie ends up having a decent season
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I still think Lawrie ends up having a decent season Yeah, it's only a game.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I still think Lawrie ends up having a decent season If he doesn't destroy his body by running into walls and dugouts and is patient at the plate I agree with you. He's obviously talented.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I still think Lawrie ends up having a decent season I expect a big bounce back defensively.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I feel like im the only person who cant stand Vin Scully for more than 30 minutes. Nope.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 What did he say? He was talking about Jake Lamb and said "A 3rd baseman that's as cold as Lamb is hot is Athletics 3B Brett Lawrie. He struck out 4 times on 12 pitches, isn't that something? His performance was odd enough that they tracked all the pitches in the at bats" then he lists the pitches and says "Isn't that amazing?" lol
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Can't believe Brett Lawrie is trending on a Wednesday mornin

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Jake Lamb isn't that hot lol. He hit a home run, okay great. Brett Lawrie had a historically awful day. Yikes. 2-4 with a Sacfly, 2 xbh's with a Dinger and 7 ribeyes is a hot start in a small sample.

That 3rd k is still mind boggling. A reliever making his MLB debut and clearly struggling on the mound throws the exact same curveball in the dirt twice in a row and you take a hack both times?

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 He might have been caught up with impressing his new team or something. Donaldson looked lost too on Tuesday for that matter. To be fair New York is big and you can get lost easily. However Monday he did not look great at the plate.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 He might have been caught up with impressing his new team or something. Donaldson looked lost too on Tuesday for that matter. Could be, but this is typical Lawrie, breaking ball in the dirt is the best way to get him
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Pirates extend Harrison: .353 BABIP, 4% BB A bomb that will explode in the Pirates face.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Pirates extend Harrison: I think he overreached last year. But I'm too lazy to look at the metrics.

I might feel a bit bad for a guy getting picked on so bad for having an off performance, but ya know with some of the things Lawrie has done and pics he has posted that he's getting a bit of a taste of his own medicine. Good God we've had a lot of unlikable players in the last few years.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Lawrie will never hit like people thought he would. He's still a great defensive 3B, so if he stays healthy, he'll definitely be worth a lot for that reason alone, but I think league average offense is his talent level (or slightly below).

Lawrie one hit > Donaldson zero hit

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 .353 BABIP, 4% BB A bomb that will explode in the Pirates face. Well they aren't paying him to be a 5 WAR guy. The free agent years they purchased are only costing them ~10M. He doesn't even have to be an average regular to earn those! Love this extension for Pittsburgh. He projects to be an above average regular this year (age 27), they just got cost certainty for 2016+2017, and they bought his age 30 season (2018) + options on his age 31 and 32 years. The position flexibility is nice too with Harrison.

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Do you see any similarities between Pillar and Harrison (OF)? Sure, similar peripheral profiles offensively. But you don't HAVE to walk a lot to be good. See Adam Jones. Harrison projects to be a decent hitter. Even if you correct his BABIP from 2014 and you make him like a ~.275 hitter, his WAR would still have been quite good.
