BTS Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 What? He's good offensively. He's having a decent spring, and he's injury free. If he's free you don't want that for a DH? Okay. He's not even good offensively. He's a below average hitter over like 1300 PA in the last three years. There's no place for Ryan Howard on a MLB roster.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 We'll see I guess. After the season we'll have to compare Howard versus the composite BJ 1B offensive stats (eg Valencia/Smoak).
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 He's having a terrible spring( took 10 seconds to look that up), put up a .690 OPS as a first baseman last year, and has been below average over the past 3 years, how is that good? He's 35 now, he isnt all of a sudden going to improve
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 He isnt even a good fantasy player anymore where the fun stats like RBI's count
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Okay, forget I mentioned Ryan Howard. You've convinced me.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Why would Papelbon care about who can or can't take on his contract? I just find it interesting that he's shown a strong desire to join the Jays of all teams. The Boston factor, he seems like a petty dude but I'm just going by that smug ridiculous face.

BlueBirdBro Verified Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Ryan Howard facing the strikeout-rich Yankee pitchers would get old pretty fast.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I wouldn't even roster him in LOD lol. Its funny because I actually took him in the LOD and I'm still clearly bashing him. He's a decent play with his power numbers as a bench bat against righties, but I'd cringe watching him play every week in real life.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Quien diablos sugirió adquirir a Ryan Howard? *Mexican language*
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Ryan Howard would be nice in Buffalo. For free. Otherwise, GTFO

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Would love to have him pitching for us this year instead of Buerhle...hope the old guy proves me wrong
Hipfan Verified Member Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Yeah, I sometimes think I'd like to have Graveman (I think he may actually be the best piece Oakland got out of the trade, especially if Lawrie continues to have injury issues), but then I think about what Donaldson will do for our lineup and it makes everything ok.
