Pedro (Crying) to Ramon Martinez after the trade

Ramon, why LAD traded my?...I did my job and I want to play here in Los Angeles forever, along with you.

And, what I will do in Montreal? ... That place is very cold. I want to back to my country , I feel so bad right now.

Ramon

"What do you think you'll do in Montreal?

Pedro

"Pitch the ball?"

Ramon

"Exactly. It's the same mound in a similar stadium. Moreover, Felipe Alou will be with there, and he loves you.

Here you're just another reliever; in Montreal you will have the chance to be a starter, and reach your dream.

You know, in Montreal you'll play the same game you played since boyhood, similar stadium with fans a little whiter."

Ramón Martinez 19 K's game?

I vaguely remember that as well though it was 18k. This was also captured in baseball cards.

It's funny to think how tied to baseball cards my memories this era of baseball is. I honestly couldn't care less about them now.

I wonder what it would take to get Erasmo Ramirez. He's out of options and the Mariners front office seems to dislike him. So he'll probably be available in trade and I think he's actually decent.

Anyway, that Ramon Martinez thing came about because a scout comped Castro to him last night in Rosenthal's article

He's like a version of Marco Estrada that throws a bit harder, but is somehow worse.

Taking him out of an ideal run environment and expecting better success in a much worse one seems like a dubious plan.

2-17, 7Ks, 4 passed balls! And with Wieters not expected to be ready, the O's are scrambling for a backup catcher..

Info on Ricky Romero's knee issues:

For most of three years, Romero has been wandering a gilded purgatory. Drawing cheques, and getting treated like a human pincushion. Medics started with plasma injections. That escalated to stem-cell therapy. He kept pitching – badly – while his knees were coming apart. He didn’t want to get surgery, because he figured surgery could only make it worse.

He gave in last summer. He’d been compensating for an initial injury and ruined both knees in the process. The reconstructions were stacked, six weeks apart. He spent three months on crutches.

“When I talked to the doctor after surgery, I was like, ‘Doc, how did it look?’ He’s like, ‘How are you even walking, man? Let alone pitching? Those things were completely shredded.’”

Both tendons had separated. Romero had been competing on what were functionally dislocated kneecaps.

These things are relative. Kara Lang is a dog compared to his former:

They're both good looking. Lang is Canadian, a soccer player who played in two FIFA World Cups and in the Olympics, and is also a sports analyst. Rima Fakih won a beauty pageant in 2010, has been convicted of drunk driving, is heavy into the party scene, and served 6 month probation.

I think it's a fair trade off, and Romero made the smarter choice. Fakih is the type you date and have fun with, but it'd be a poor investment to marry her. Lang is the type you wanna be with for the long haul.

http://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/mlb-investigating-claims-tying-marlins-pitcher-jarred-cosart-to-gambling-7551747

Starting pitcher Jarred Cosart came to the Miami Marlins last summer hoping for a fresh start after a sometimes rocky tenure with the Houston Astros. Instead, he finds himself this morning amidst a Twitter-storm of allegations tying him to gambling. MLB is now looking into the claims, a spokesman tells New Times.

Cosart's troubles started last night with a gambling expert on Twitter alleging he'd direct messaged a colleague asking for betting advice. Cosart later deleted his own account as tweets piled up accusing him of gambling and speculating whether he'd ever bet on baseball, which would be a serious violation of the game's rules.

Ahhh... the old "my twitter account got hacked" excuse. It's a treat that this time it's being used for something other than leaked nude pics!

I guess it would be easy to shave a run here and there when you've been playing for the Marlins & Astros with no microscope on you or relevance in a playoff picture.

Isn't there a lot more to be gained by putting up the best numbers you can and getting a big contract?

Good read on #PapaBuehrle that Stroman just tweeted out

http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/mark-buehrle-blue-jays-veteran/

Consider Stroman’s five-game suspension by MLB for throwing a pitch near Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph’s head. Joseph had angered Jose Reyes by stepping on Reyes’s hand during a play at the plate earlier in the game and was due up. “[stroman] came out of the dugout,” says Buehrle, “and I said, ‘Come on, let’s go, let’s go get them,’ like go out and finish the game strong. He turned around and looked at me and said, ‘Yeah?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, go finish it out.’ He thought I meant go hit him. I sat down afterward and said, ‘Dude, what are you doing hitting him?’ He’s like, ‘You told me to.’ ‘No, I didn’t tell you to hit him, I don’t know that part of the game.’”

lol
