Oh, apparently he's down to 88mph this spring. Yikes.

Yeah. And they save like $4M by cutting him now. I'm sure there were no takers for the $5.5M he was owed.

I can't wrap my head around why Colorado would release him.

He was practicing this offseason with a guy who I know, and he told me "Chacin is trying to strengthen his arm before spring training start"

Kendall Graveman threw 5.1 innings for A's today. 1 H, 1 BB, 5K, 0ER.

I wish him well, and I think he'll do a decent job for the A's, but man did we get great value for him!

Yeah for sure. I didn't mean that as a passive-aggressive LOOK WHAT WE LOST post or anything. More just keeping tabs on a guy I hope does well. He probably makes their rotation out of the gate.

Graveman will be a good MLB starter, IMO. I'm not a fan of Nolin, but Graveman I can see carving out a nice MLB career.

Since the Jays are giving Santana and Wolf a kick in the can, why not Chacin? At least he's young.

I would sign Death herself on a minor league deal! (I don't know if I'm going to be able to get much worse than that in the future... )

I'm a fan of both but even if they both do well and Lawrie too, there's much to be said for consolidating your assets. A 6 to 7 WAR guy is worth a lot more than 6-7 WAR spread among three guys. Enough to justify giving up Barreto.

I was over on sportsnet and read this:

Article: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/cecil-decision-helps-clear-jays-bullpen-picture/

Indeed, an hour after the win over the Rays, Donaldson – still sweating from an extra session in the batting cage, carrying a bat – and Jose Bautista emerged from the trainer’s room. They set up shop in front of the door and for 15 minutes, as clubhouse attendants and team personnel navigated their way around the men, Bautista talked about shoulders and hips and swings. Donaldson, of course, studied Bautista’s swing on video before he became a teammate but there was less of a student-pupil and more of an interactive tone to the discussion. The two were oblivious to the eyes and ears around them, the intensity of discussion remarkable.

I don't know why, but I got gitty. Will be fun times seeing those two mash hitters. Now if only Smoak could sneak himself between the two and listen in on the conversation.

I just like how he keeps going back to the "we play harder than others" mantra

"D’backs will be better than critics are claiming, citing positional and starting depth and a credo to play hard and fundamentally well."

Dave Stewart is a GM of a Major League Baseball team. I still can't believe that this is a true statement.

Sounds like MLSE set to do a lease deal for Argos at BMO. Sadly, not for this season.

Would it make a difference if it was for this season?

Finally! Now the Jays can start looking into real grass for the Rogers Centre.. we hope.

For the Blue Jays? No. I think the "sadly" there is more from the Argo fans' perspective, I guess?

Jays fans will love this.

TFC fans will cry (artificial turf!?).

Argos fans (do they exist?) will probably prefer BMO I'm guessing.

Looks like from the 2016 baseball season onward the Blue Jays will be free of the Argos infestation and able to put in real grass / retrofit the stadium for baseball however they see fit.

Still, don't count on anything happening before 2018, as I think has been reported / mentioned regarding feasibility for getting grass installed.
