Kick it off with something in my FB feed, Julio Franco going to play baseball in Japan at age 56, unbelievable.

Guy is a freak though. At age 46 he hit .275/.348 .799OPS. That's amazing.

Here's to a new season; to more wins, less tards and just as much unwarranted hatred as always.

And even more warranted hatred!

TORONTO BLUE JAYS single game tickets go on sale through all ticket channels on FEBRUARY 18 at 10:00 a.m. Single game seat prices will increase by $2 per ticket for premium and regular games, excluding Club and In the Action seats, marking the first time in five seasons the club has increased prices.

I think that is fair... GP probably won't though, and I don't blame them.

Well, the economy has improved from 2010, and everything else went up in price, plus payroll has gone up, so it's understandable that prices would go up. Besides, it's still better than the greedfest at MLSE with the Leafs and Raptors, who have seen their ticket prices skyrocket.

I honestly thought somebody would start this on New Years day lol. With pitchers and catchers pretty much already in camp may as well start this now. Baseball is coming. Who honestly thought at this time last year Daniel Norris and Dalton Pompey would have a great chance to make our 2015 roster. I think we would have been happy to see them both in Double-A.

On that note then, who are your long shots (yet somewhat realistic) to break camp in 2016? Pentecost for backup C?

Maybe that's not long enough odds... Dwight Smith Jr? Vladdy Jr? OK...maybe too optimistic ;)

I don't see Pentecost being added to the 40 man. If Navarro is traded, backup catcher will come down to Thole or Jimenez with the later being the dark horse but since they both have options, the opportunity to steal the job shoud theoretically be there. Pentecost needs to rehab his injury and work his way up to the high minors before even getting consideration.

I think the best place to look for long shots is among the non-roster invitees: http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_nri.jsp?c_id=tor

I'd say the most realistic long shots would be some of the pitchers. I really like Infante myself.

Infant's numbers jumped LARGE last season... hmmm

I guess I was referring to Jays' drafted prospects jumping multiple levels to start opening day 2016. Very unlikely to happen again, but it gives us a reason to talk about baseball. Only a couple of weeks to go now!!!!

Looking at who the Jays drafted in 2014, Pentecost is probably the only player who is old enough and high profile enough. If he hadn't injured himself and had been able to establish himself last year, he might have put himself in the discussion but that was before the Martin signing and even without Martin it would have been a longshot because Navarro would not have been an easy hurdle to clear. As it stands now, with Martin signed long term, there's just no reason not to take their time with Pentecost.

Hoffman has the best chance to be on Opening Day 2016 of the new draftees.

Coming of T.J and knowing that he has a very high ceiling you would think they would not want to rush him and make sure he is 100% healthy and back to normal.

I keep forgetting about Hoffman!! Good choice...

I missed the whole "2016" part. I thought he meant this year which is why I disqualified Hoffman. A lot can change between now and 2016 and Hoffman probably has the clearer path. That being said, there could be other breakouts that aren't on the radar right now.

To replicate Norris and Pompey (pitcher and hitter) I'll take Smoral and Tellez.
