Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 If so, what is your impression? I hope so
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 If Ricciardi's teams played in a league with this much parity, the playoff drought would have ended by now. Jays can't make the playoffs when all they needed was 87 wins with 140m payroll last season. He should be on a short leash.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Oh come on now, this is way overdone and I think it's a product of him refusing to deal a reliever in 2013 for assets rather than the other way around. Lincoln (a first-round bust) for Snider (another first-round bust) who is just now coming into some value as a role player Santos for Molina, a pitcher who looks to be going nowhere Napoli for Francisco, which has been beaten to death a million times and is always looked outside its context where the bigger goal was releasing the Jays of the Wells contract. If it was constructed as a three-way trade where Francisco and Rivera came in and the Angels and Rangers did a swap no one would be complaining about this. Three times it happened (that I recall) in his tenure here, two times it was for minimal assets and the third had a bigger goal in mind. So if the Jays traded Wells for a young Stanton and then traded him for nothing, it's OK because at least they got rid of the Wells contract? The logic failure is real.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Is AA trying to change baseball? Castro and Osuna Bullpen; Pompey and Travis starting; Sanchez and Norris rotation?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Is AA trying to change baseball? Castro and Osuna Bullpen; Pompey and Travis starting; Sanchez and Norris rotation? He knows his time is ticking so he is going to go down with the prospects he developed or acquired. That's both admirable and stupid at the same time.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Delabar to AAA and Osuna up is a horrendous decision.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 He knows his time is ticking so he is going to go down with the prospects he developed or acquired. That's both admirable and stupid at the same time. this is what you get with a GM with one year left on his contract. He's being ultra aggressive. If it pays off and the Jays make the playoffs he's out of contract and leaves a team with a boat load of young talent that he's brought in or developed. Winning with young players is sexy and could be appealing to many franchises. He's building his resume. If the Jays win this year the way they are being set up there's a strong likelihood AA could get an offer from another team for a longer more secure term than the Jays would give him. That said even if I agreed that Castro should start the season in the pen, there's no way both Osuna and Castro should be on this team from day one.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Delabar to AAA and Osuna up is a horrendous decision. I kind of see those ase seperate things. Delabar has opitons and if they want him to work on things in the minors, that's no big deal. Why Osuna was the next candiate in line is what's questionable

Why Osuna was the next candiate in line is what's questionable I kind of got the feeling yesterday that this might happen. I forget who it was said that they would go with delabar if his splitter was working. If they think he needs to work on it more than they know more than any of us i have absolutely no issue with sending him down. There are other options that could have been used to fill the void.... Another thing that crossed my mind briefly this morning over my cup of joe is a deal that involved Navarro for a Reliever..... However they probably would not of made that move until the deal was announced.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Liam Hendriks? If Hendriks gets DFA'd that's a derp.
tmath Verified Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 This actually makes me wonder if Sanchez has a poor outing today is it possible Sanchez moves to the pen and Osuna moves into the rotation? I'm pretty sure Osuna has been scheduled to move to the pen. So I doubt it. I'd rather Osuna starting, but freshly coming off TJ surgery. It's probably best that he doesn't.

If they think he needs to work on it more than they know more than any of us i have absolutely no issue with sending him down. I have no issue with it either but I will say that it's a bit contradictory compared to the way they are treating Sanchez. You could easily make the same kind of argument about needing to work on some stuff for demoting Sanchez and you could certainly argue that Delabar working on his secondary stuff is less essential given the role he's vying for.

They want Delabar to work on things. His option doesn't necessarily mean osuna will be in the pen either. Osuna should open up the season in the minors as a starter.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Anyone else think there is a rift going on between Gibbons and AA? First the Thole comments and now Delabar.
tmath Verified Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 If Hendriks gets DFA'd that's a derp. Not that big of a derp. He's not that good.

Osuna possibly work about 60-70 innings, therefore, likely to be reliever if he make the team. This org suxx
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 John Lott @LottOnBaseball ·6 mins6 minutes ago Gibbons (cont'd): “ … It’s just not the way we’re putting the team together right now. That could change. That’s the business side of it." dis gon be gud
tmath Verified Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 He is too good to DFA and lose for free. Should have trade value. Maybe you are overvaluing him? Maybe AA is working on a trade right now. I just want the best players with the big league club so maybe we can finally make the post season.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I think y'all are over valuing Hendriks. The guy has great peripherals in the minors but he seems like an AAAA player. Could end up like a Todd Redmond. He was DFA'd by Kansas and we only shipped Nessy
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 This Osuna thing is entirely media speculation because Osuna was scratched from start and will make BP appearance. Are you new being jays fan? AA isn't good at putting puzzles together Sanchez, Castro and Osuna should be in minor league camp, instead, they will make the team.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 He's tenure with Kansas had good peripherals but again he seems to be hittable. Only positive is his lack of HR given up and the nice BB/K. And I wouldn't put much stock into his ST #'s considering he likely faced the orgfillers out of the BP. I wouldn't mind Hendriks breaking camp but that's only to get that extra year for the young guns.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Why AAAA? He was pretty good for KC last year and his 7 IP as a reliever were very good. 7 innings tells you nothing about a player...he's crap

tmath Verified Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Thats the thing with baseball fans. They put every move made under the micro scope. AA is trying something different. Yeah, he may be swinging for the fences. But he knows a lot of stuff behind the scenes that we don't know about. Hopefully its all a part of a bigger plan, and not just trying to save his ass. These moves are out of our control. Lets just hope it works out, short and long term.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Liam Hendriks is too old and experienced to make this team. Matt Smoral would be a better bullpen piece. /Alex thinking out loud.
tmath Verified Member Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/delabar-im-not-happy-decision/ Suck it up. Play the game that you are getting paid for, whether its in the minors or the big league club. He will likely get his chance in the show at some point of the season. Quit being a baby Delabar.
