Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Are you donating the "overpay" portion? Rogers has some money.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) The MI infield has been pretty slow to settle. Asdrubal is signed but I don't think Pittsburgh has signed Kang yet. Stephen Drew hasn't been in the news much and Everth doesn't seem to be drawing any interest at all. Toritani being still unsigned suggests that the rumours that the Padres were willing to just hand him the SS job for the near future probably weren't true. Edited January 6, 2015 by KingKat

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 FFS. I don't think I've ever been more despaired by such a likely mediocre player. Thank f*** AA put Travis in his back pocket to start the off season.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed too.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Devon Travis here we come! Devon Travis ETA unknown
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed too. It was just so annoying and drawn out. Weeks of speculation and it turns out he isn't even leaving Japan. WTF?

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm guessing many MLB teams, including Toronto, sensed that he'd up being another flop like Nakajima or that one on the Twins a few years back.. plus, Toritani likely asked for way too much money from MLB teams.
labadee Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 He has every right to choose to stay, im just irked that he held out for so long like he was some sort of big name.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 So much for those sources. Scott Boras. Never underestimate his douchebaggery
Ehjays Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 He has every right to choose to stay, im just irked that he held out for so long like he was some sort of big name. I believe he held out so long hoping to sign on with the Yankees......They just announced they signed Drew and he says he staying. I may be wrong but thats how i view it. He was never really interested in playing in TO
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I get the feeling Boras punishes teams who don't cave into his douchiness by stringing them alone with no real intention to ever sign barring massive overpayment and rewards ones who do with things like the Drew signing.

He's good at his job. He likely strung Toritani along to get Drew signed.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I just dont want to start the season with Izturis as our number 1 option at second. Looks that way, isn't all bad, Travis might take the role in Spring, Mighty Mouse isn't as bad as some think.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I would bet Travis wins the starting gig if we don't add anyone.. It's more ideal to have him as depth but this team is trying to compete and he's probably the best option.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Looks that way, isn't all bad, Travis might take the role in Spring, Mighty Mouse isn't as bad as some think. Really hard to know what to expect. He was legitimately dreadful in 2013, looked like he was back to form in 2014 but then got seriously injured before the sample size really meant anything (only 11 games). If he's healthy and back to being a .320 OBP guy, that's not exactly great but I'll take it from a place holder. I'm certainly not going to bank on it but I wouldn't be shocked by it either. This is the last year of his contract and quite possibly his career. Hopefully he still has a little something left.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Soooo Zobrist? Would you give up Sanchez+ for him? If he can be had for a motley assortment of lesser SP prospects, I'm all for this.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I would do Sanchez + Labourt or something. They would only flip Sanchez though. Might need to be Osuna + Castro or something. I'm guessing the Rays would also be interested in Urena and Travis.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Would you give up Sanchez+ for him? If he can be had for a motley assortment of lesser SP prospects, I'm all for this. Absolutely, but depends on what the + is. Any chance trading Sanchez to a 3rd team for one of their top prospects and then flipping that prospect for Zobrist? Sanchez does not seem like a Rays type of pitcher.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I wouldn't even touch Zobrist with Sanchez. Zobrist is a good player but he's 33. He can fall off at any moment.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 So Jed Lowrie is not a possibility then? Better to sign an unknown Japanese fill-in for a third of the price of a proven major leaguer. f*** right off. f***. Right. Off. ******** signing if true. What a terrible over reaction.....Unknown? You dont think people in baseball have not scouted and have a good idea what this guy can do? Only thing BS is your post.
