GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 58% GB rate and +8K/9 is sexy, so sexy. 4.8BB/9, 4.50 FIP and a 2.5 mph drop in velocity is so unsexy.
baloojayz Verified Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Making comments about his injuries being related to the turf was ridiculous and I took it that he said that to discouraged free agents to sign with Toronto which was classless imo. Have you never got into fights? You pretty much draw on anything you can. Given the types of injuries he suffered and the irrelevance of the turf, it's even easier to conclude his comments were emotionally driven. Kid was as hardcore a BlueJay as you could be and did a lot of good things for Toronto (including the helmet toss-showed a lot of heart when everyone else had pretty much punched out).

The bad masterson still might be as good or better than what the sox have in the rotation....it's pretty ugly.

This is where you throw analytics out the door and watch the impending gong show. Loss of velocity = loss of effectiveness and he will probably continue to drop next year as well.

baloojayz Verified Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 lol you think throwing your helmet it heart? Not the act in itself, but if I remember correctly the Jays were playing like crap and looked like they checked out emotionally.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Lawrie played very hard (to a fault) nearly every play. I have no ill will towards him. I hope he has a great career. I've wanted to take potshots at former employers before. Getting traded for a player everyone considers a massive upgrade kind of stings, too, especially if you've been hurt as often as you've played and are struggling to adjust.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Have you never got into fights? As a police officer for 30 years, a few times LOL. So his immaturity is an excuse for you, well that's your rightful opinion. You do have a point.

I loved watching him play. I was annoyed how much he got hurt and the bat has yet to live up to his potential so he was frustrating to watch. All the best to him though, zero ill will. That said I couldn't be more stoked that we got Donaldson.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I like Masterson, but as a gamble, not as a counted on member at the top of a staff.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Also, can we stop posting Cotillo rumours as news? Thanks. Cotillos a hack! Jealousy among the Grade 10 insiders
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Jealousy among the Grade 10 insiders lol I just hate how he (and those who follow him) thinks annoying players and agents with a constant barrage of "tell me stuff!" tweets/texts is purposeful. And like 99% of his tweets/articles are just "here's what Heyman and Rosenthal say." He also writes the worst opinion pieces and tries to make them seem like actual news (i.e., the Greinke thing).
Statman Verified Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Listening to the winter meetings discussions on SiriusXm and they are fellating the White Sox big time. The one guy just said I would put together a team of one year guys (because it would guarantee playoffs) when talking about the Sox and players like the Shark...jesus christ.

I love what the White Sox have done, they have managed to trade what little farm they have and spend lots of money to improve to the 3rd best team in the AL Central behind the Tigers and Indians.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Same. I loved watching him play. This makes me realize how much I loved watching Lawrie's first stint in the majors, and how similar it is to how much I loved watching Arencibia's first game. Both are two of my fondest Blue Jays memories. Unfortunately, that's probably the extent of it, and now that they've both been replaced by bona fide superstars, I don't think I'm going to miss them much anytime soon.
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Hmmmm. Not happy about this at all. http://calltothepen.com/2014/12/08/jed-lowrie-drawing-interest-multiple-clubs/ Miami, Astros and Giants. Willing to play 3B, 2B and SS. Why not us?

You should read it for all sorts of reasons. But that doesn't mean that Verducci didn't bury the lede under hundreds of other words. http://i.gyazo.com/1e8a9118153c4de284a3d5a8bfeb90b5.png Madison Bumgarner would pick up the phone, and ask Madison Bumgarner on a date. Madison Bumgarner would hold hands with Madison Bumgarner on their way to the burger joint, where Madison Bumgarner and Madison Bumgarner would look into each other's eyes. The night might have ended with Madison Bumgarner giving Madison Bumgarner a polite peck on the cheek. Madison Bumgarner dated Madison Bumgarner, everyone. This is fascinating, not because of tired stereotypes about the South, but because a Madison Bumgarner dating a Madison Bumgarner isn't something Northern Exposure or Archer would have tried to get away with. Luckily, real life manages to be more interesting sometimes.

Great financial flexibility so they can sit there and look at all the money they could spend if they ever choose too but won't.
