Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I like smith to be a nice little platoon left fielder. He is no star but he will contribute nicely. Frankly, I'd like to see what he can do at 2nd...
flafson Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Beeston sounds happy. He said what happened happened and he's happy to be here.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Interesting that this was revised yesterday. http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=tor Looks like after this whole debacle, Edward Rogers was added to the website as Chairman, Toronto Blue Jays. Was he always the Chairman? Was he just added because his name was out there, seemingly out of nowhere, as the point man on the Duquette? Is it Chairman in Name Only, or has the reporting structure changed? Have they brought him in over Beeston (effectively demoting Beeston), and does Beeston Report up to him as opposed to Pelley/Viner as he has before? If you look at the Cached version of the website to last week, and he was not listed. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/front_office.jsp?c_id=tor EXECUTIVE OFFICE Vice Chairman, Rogers Communications Inc. TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 He was chairman for a while, just wasn't on the website. Are you sure about this? I don't believe we ever heard that he was Chairman of the Toronto Blue Jays. He has never been mentioned in relation to the team before the Reinsdorf news broke. I wonder if the media is missing something big here. What if they are missing the fact that Rogers Communications has agreed to bring back Beeston as CEO and President, but has effectively demoted him, but putting someone (Ed Rogers) in a newly-created role as Chairman, in between him and Rogers Communications Management (Pelley)? Its interesting. So instead of AA going to Beeston who goes to Pelley et al., AA has to go to Beeston, who goes has to go to Ed Rogers...who then decides if the request is worthy of the Pelley's time? This diminishes Beestons role substantially.
flafson Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Ill tell you what, when his name came up, i Googled him and it was showing in a bunch of places that he was chairman. I guess it's possible it wasn't an old thing, but who knows.

Probably has to do with the fact that he was also quoted in the press conference yesterday. Pretty sure i haven't seen his name before, let alone in a press release.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Of all things Beeston is, he's certainly not an a-hole. He's a liar. Like the psycho gf who tells you shes going to change to keep you hanging on, yet keeps being psycho. "And you know [payroll's] going up!"

IBleedOrange Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 it took Rosenthal long enough to admit his bias. No wonder he tried so hard to make the O's out to be the bad guys and only post news that benefited the Blue Jays.

There was obvious exaggeration on the part of Bill, specifically the use of the term "soap opera" when addressing the game's most respected reporter. Rosenthal replied in kind, exaggerating his own distaste for the organization, thereby acknowledging his personal opinion but also implying it wouldn't manifest professionally. Next time he should write "sarcasm" on his munchkin dick before he slaps your fan base across the face with it, in order to avoid this confusion.

LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Wherever did common sence go??? To the Offseason Roster thread to debate the extent of RJF's retardation. Common Spence would make a pretty good board name. Spanky's first name? We might have to tag-team that effort

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I know its not all O's fans because there are some decent ones(the one gentleman that posted on here) but the ones on that f***ing board make all the other ones look like s*** heads.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Goddammit you people are dumb. They're some of the most pathetic, cringeworthy people I've come across in my life. Based on how they talk about Rosenthal, I thought maybe he'd left their paper a few years ago. 14 years? Really? And then the Cito thing, which happened 20 years ago. Were every one of you left at the altar or something? Jesus christ. f***ing get over it, you miserable lowlife turds. This Duquette thing will probably take them to 2035. Joke of a fanbase.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Conversely, fans of other teams could come here to find a certain member racking up 1000 posts about how Ryan Goins defence is so elite that he's a two-win player...
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The biggest takeaway from knowing these idiots exist is that it makes people like Gruber on this board look like members of the MENSA society. When you come across the JP Arencibia of fan bases, you really do appreciate your Navarros quite a bit more.

Don't get me wrong I think these guys are insane and 95% of Jays fans don't deserve a comp...but how long ago did Law leave us now? I think it's 9 years now and he can't write anything bad about a Jays prospect without something being said.
