When the Nats first moved to Washington, Angelos fought it and got a deal where the TV revenue shared by the two teams were a 85-15 split. You f*** with Angelos, you're going to get ripped off. He isn't going to be accepting your backup players or fringe prospects for his GM.

Search "Ken Rosenthal Orioles" on google. You'll get nothing but tons of editorials bashing the O's. Its what he does.

Rosenthal has always had an agenda against the Orioles ever since he was run out of Baltimores media, so he obviously wouldn't be reporting anything positive for Baltimore.

From the sounds of it the Jays have already agreed on Hoffman and we just want more. Maybe they'll end up settling on just Hoffman but it never hurts to try to get more.

If the O's didn't have the intention of bringing him back, he'd be in Toronto already. He's going to be there whether he wants to be or not unless the Jays give in... so now its up to Duquette to show whether he's a professional or not. Once his contract is up, he won't be able to get another job if he shows that he will let something like this distract him from doing his job and half ass it.

Angelos is really stubborn and he's done this kind of thing in the past where he doesn't care about the feelings of his employees (he's denied several of our coaches for promotions over the years), he just does what he wants. And honestly that has been a big problem with the organization in the past and caused people to leave, but thats another story. But the point is I don't see the fact Duquette wouldn't be happy being denied a promotion really mattering to Angelos.

I don't think he's worth it either. Personally, I think he's worth maybe a middle reliever or 4th outfielder type... but thats only if the Orioles feel they need to let him go and they'll take whatever they can get. The O's feel no need to give him up just because the Jays want him, so they'll try to get as much as they can or they won't let him go at all.

Theres no official rule in MLB that you have to allow someone to go for a promotion. Its just an unwritten rule. MLB can try to pressure him but thats about it. I agree Angelos is being a bit possessive and selfish here, but thats who he is and theres nothing that can really be done about it since Duquette has signed a contract with the Orioles.

Are you saying he can't be "Traded"? Since thats exactly what this will end up being if he does go to Toronto. Angelos has no intention of letting him go there without getting fair value back in return.

From a Buster Olney insider article: I think Hoffman and Urena would be fair compensation. If the Jays don't want to pay it, both sides can just move on. We have no need to trade him, he's signed here for a long time and is doing a very good job.
