Systems? If you are talking about Farm systems the Blue Jays have had a better one than the Orioles in AA's tenure.

By 'farm system' you mean 'list of prospects', which is the GM's job.

There are many other 'systems' that go into developing MLB players; from dealing with affiliates, scouting personel, development personel and all the processes that go into the pipeline. AA's plate has always been too full (pardon the pun) as he has had to act as GM AND the major voice in baseball operations (Beeston's strength has always been the business side). Adding another smart mind into the fold to take on those operational responsibilities should not be a bad thing as it would hopefully free up AA to focus on player eval. and acquisition.

That being said, who knows how much control DD would want in that side of the GM's job so... who knows.

I think the Blue Jays do a pretty good job with their "systems" don't you? Their IFA development has been really impressive since AA has took over and Vancouver has been very sucessful at the minor league level, but I do agree that an additional guy can't be a bad thing considering its Beeston who he is replacing.

I just hope DD (if he does come, all be it while not giving up anyone significant) has an open mind and doesn't try to change things for the sake of change when there is already successful systems put in place.

I wonder if DD will eliminate the Jays max 5 year contract rule?

For as much hate as fans have for the policy, looking at the contacts over 5 years that have been handed out there are a ton of awful deals and not one that looks like it was a great signing. Darvish's deal looks pretty good but that was under different circumstances. Looking solely at pure free agent deals and not guys who had control left.

I definitely agree that the system in place is working. The ability to bounce back after the big trades is a testament to solid work.

I am not saying the DD hire would necessarily be a good thing, just that I can see the logic behind giving AA another baseball mind to work with.

People give suits wayyyy to much credit. Look at a the fanfare the Knicks had bringing Phil Jackson in. The team sucks donkey dick and there is no way that was planned. Turns out having two of the best players to ever touch a basketball may have had something to do with the teams success.

I too like the rule on free agent signings. I also like that they allow 5+ year deals for team friendly extensions, if available.

That being said, it puts more pressure on the team to develop talent and less on the wallet. Smart, considering the holes some of these MLB teams have dug with long term commitments.

This was the General Manager of a Major League Baseball team

And AA offered him a job. Could have completed the 3 ring circus...then again it's probably already a 12 ring circus at least.

I'm OK with moving Navarro - but why would Baltimore want him?

Every home game hundreds of these Gino Burgers go unsold...Navarro is needed in Camden to solve this problem.

Oh god... Posters on Orioles Hangout are quoting us now.

This needs to end. f*** Angelos, let him keep Duquette.

Oh, we've been noticed by the hive, have we?

I never thought I'd see the day BJMB would be on the other side of this statement, lol.

AA has be somewhere in the background begging and pleading the organization to not trade Hoffman for Duquette. Seriously, give them Navarro and give them 10 mil. That's got to be what Duquette's contract is worth roughly for the 4 years. We'd be paying their GM's salary for the next 4 years and giving them a player.

Orioles fans are the worst. Are people from f***ing BALTIMORE actually cracking Canada jokes? Talk about zero self awareness.

No surprise, they are at Buster Olney's teat. Escaping them, apparently, is the fact that Buster Olney doesn't really know anything. How you can read his articles or tweets and not come away with that fact is pretty concerning.

Oh well. At least posting on our site doesn't require payment.

Hey, Baltimore's not that bad a city anymore, the crime rates gone down, only 200 people were killed last year, that's still more than all Ontario combined, but...improvement!

We have sown the seeds of discord in the O's organization. In couple of weeks they will send Duquette to us for free.

Hi, O's fan here. What number is Hoffman? I'm getting a Hoffman jersey this weekend.
