I think if the Orioles are insistent on Compensation the Jays should do the courteous business thing and give them something (they won't get what the fans will want, but they will get something)

Yeah I completely agree with the orioles' fans reactions. It is pretty bad timing for this to happen to them. Could be intentional on the Jays' part.

I can't imagine Rogers would let Duquette get rid of AA, at least now, after the hype he's generated. And if - IF - we make the playoffs next year, it'll be kinda hard to justify. Interesting.

Do they not understand that this happens at every level of baseball regarding managers, hitting coaches, pitching coaches, gm's .... It's an accepted practice to get permission to talk to other teams employees of the position you want them for is a promotion from their current role. It's also accepted that if the job isn't a promotion, you don't get permission to talk to them.

 

There's nothing shady, silly or anything even remotely resembling tampering whosoever. Be mad that you're losing a great FO man, but don't blame the team willing to advance the man's career. Also, don't blame the man for advancing his career.
