HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Who here wants to take a stab at Brandon Moss? His numbers are deceiving right now. Don't look at the overall totals. But look at pre-ASG and post https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/8082/splits/ Yes he sucked in the 2nd half, but it was because of a hip injury that he had surgery on this off season: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/brandon-moss-its-mostly-in-the-hip/ What you're looking at is a guy who pretty much hits like our three-headed monster. If he's healthy, he can hit 40 bombs with a .250/.350/+.550 line. He has two more years of control. Of course, the drawback is that he's 31. Defensively he doesn't have any value, but he can be the lefty in the middle of our line-up.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 What would it take to get him??? And if we did have parts Oakland wanted for Moss wouldn't they have been to work that out in an expanded Donaldson trade?? btw Moss was nothing at age 28... kind of like Smoak and Saunders are... so maybe the Jays are actually being smart here and trying to find the next Brandon Moss?? That being said I wouldn't mind adding him if the price was right. But what would the price be???

Oh well. Maybe Beane said he wanted to look around first since he knows there would be quite a few suitors for Moss.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 What do we give up tho? I think Beane would want some MLB-ready talent, although I'm not willing to give up anyone on our roster. I wouldn't mind building a package around Osuna, though.

I really think AA should be focusing on the BP, a starter, and MIF help, in that order.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 He's gonna trade Moss for a young SS. SOURCES: Moss to CLE for Jose Ramirez is something to watch for. Cleveland wants a COF/1B/DH bat, is looking to move Swisher, and have Lindor/Kipnis up the middle. Personally I think they're stuck with Swisher, but they could put Moss in LF and make Swisher a full DH.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I've repetitively said how perfect Moss will be on this team, but I don't know what you trade for him that the A's would want. I can't imagine AA didn't try to add someone like Moss or Reddick or something to the Donaldson trade, and it must have been a thing where they couldn't work something out on what would go the other way. Watch AA get swisher now lol Swisher isn't good anymore.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
