baloojayz Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Reyes Melky Donaldson Bautista Encarnacion Martin Navarro Travis Pompey Trade Thole
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I'd be fine with this. Navarro for Fowler?
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I'd be fine with this. Navarro for Fowler? texas wants a catcher...I'd be on board with this if they were...I'm not sure they would be though..lol
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I'd be fine with this. Navarro for Fowler? Astros have Mike Fast in the front office. They won't have any interest in an awful framer like Navarro.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Would rather resign Melky. If the prospect traded is not much to the current team...Jays should rather have a 1 year guy than tied to a LF for 3 or more. Dexter in a spot where he's going to see more FB's could BABIP his way to a similar line as last year with a RC power upgrade.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Astros have Mike Fast in the front office. They won't have any interest in an awful framer like Navarro. Doesn't make any sense from the Astros perspective either. They already have Castro, Conger, Corporan and Stassi.

Yeah some idiots just think we can trade any player to any team just because. LOL LETS TRADE POMPEY TO BOSTON FOR PEDROIA
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I love to see Fowler-Pompey-Reyes at 8-9-1. Or Pompey-Reyes-Fowler at 9-1-2. For a reasonable price.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Yeah some idiots just think we can trade any player to any team just because. LOL LETS TRADE POMPEY TO BOSTON FOR PEDROIA It's early in the offseason bud. Guys can continue to be flipped and moved.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 It's early in the offseason bud. Guys can continue to be flipped and moved. I think the point is that the Astros will have equally little desire or use for Navarro on December 2 or on March 2. The components don't fit unless AA finds an intermediate trade.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I don't think he'll be worth what it will take to get him. Dude doesn't steal bases that much and doesn't have good D. Melky's slower than him but will take less to bring him back and has a better bat than Fowler. Plus fowlers got one year left, the Astros probably had this in mind when they signed him to trade him after his first year for a batch of prospects. No thanks.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Would rather keep Melky also. Not giving up any assets, Most likely better performance.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Would rather keep Melky also. Not giving up any assets, Most likely better performance. There's a draft pick tied to Melky
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 There's a draft pick tied to Melky Thats true, but we are trying to win now and Melky helps with that more than that pick at this point IMO I would like to see him back
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 There's a draft pick tied to Melky and 2 or 3 years of an old guy playing like s***
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Saunders makes more sense than anything, out of the names that are actively mentioned on the market. After Saunders, I seriously preferred Dirks/Pillar over some of the other guys being mentioned (Melky, Aoki, etc) so with Dirks gone, I'm hoping they've got their eyes on some outside-the-box names that aren't being talked about.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Step 1: Trade PTBNL for Fowler Step 2: Let Melky walk Step 3: Consult with Astros who they really like in the late first round in next year's next draft Step 4: PTBNL is the guy drafted with Melky's pick once they can trade him Everybody winzzzz!!!!!
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Would rather keep Melky also. Not giving up any assets, Most likely better performance. Me too, I know it's selfish but a draft pick is not meaningful for a few years at least, if at all. Melky fits extremely well on this team.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Thats true, but we are trying to win now and Melky helps with that more than that pick at this point IMO I would like to see him back Than why mention not having to give up an asset? I'll draw some ire here...but from a value end of things 1 year of Fowler and giving up Miguel Castro is better than 4 years of Melky and not getting the comp pick. Of course there are options better than both those scenarios In the end I think Melky and Fowler will produce about the same value next season...but with the addition of Donaldson, I really don't think the Jays need to seek out an OF that produces the majority of his value killing lefties. Fowler for this reason makes less sense.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Me too, I know it's selfish but a draft pick is not meaningful for a few years at least, if at all. Melky fits extremely well on this team. Then neither is the prospect you give up for another LF. I just really believe 1 year moves make sense for the Jays...don't give someone 4 years for that one year though.

Don't you only have 6 months to settle PTBNL deals though? Snag in the winzzzz

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I don't think you can trade a guy you drafted for one full year after they sign as well Could be wrong though Correct
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Still can't believe Atlanta traded Jason Heyward for Shelby Miller. What an idiotic move
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Don't you only have 6 months to settle PTBNL deals though? Snag in the winzzzz Dammit! I didn't think of the PTBNL deadline.
