HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 This is the same guy that broke the Panda/Hanley deals hours before any major networks did
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Well there are still two wildcards to compete for right
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Author Posted November 24, 2014 Red Sox still need to get more pitching. Their team last year was still s*** with Lester on board. And they don't have a replacement for what they lost in Lackey. Their offense will be a threat thought, but they need to address their pitching.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Have to think Hamels is next...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Well, looks like John Henry got into the ether... http://c1.likes-media.com/img/aa0d9783a370387a1174bed6208f9800.600x

Well they have one of the best farm systems and a bunch MLB position players with value. Pitching won't be hard to find if they offer up some of these guys. Red Sox look like they will have one of the best teams heading into the season.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Martin signing starting to look like not enough
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Now they give up the farm for Hamels most likely.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 but we got a Canadian. and pitch framing. so.......
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Buehrle and Nolin for Cespedes?
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I've heard some rumors and I can't imagine it happening but would the White Sox be shopping Chris Sale (in particular to the Red Sox)?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Martin signing starting to look like not enough It was never going to be enough, but it was (and still is) a good start.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I've heard some rumors and I can't imagine it happening but would the White Sox be shopping Chris Sale (in particular to the Red Sox)? It would take a massive package of young mlb ready talent to get Sale. The scary thing is the Bo Sox have the young talent and depth to pull it off.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 It was never going to be enough, but it was (and still is) a good start. Agreed. Martin is a very good player and was a very sensible signing, but he was never the missing piece. More work needs to be done, regardless of what else Boston does. No need to make any panic type moves. Just keep adding good/great players where possible. Can't control what other teams do.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm excited to watch the Jays next year just because there's some legit "exciting" talent
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 AA better step in and get er done with Lester...150 over 7 years.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 AA better step in and get er done with Lester...150 over 7 years. AA can't step in, he's busy taking a massive souvlaki and tziki filled dump.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/latest-on-jon-lester-and-cole-hamels.html "Two NL GMs told Peter Gammons over the weekend that Lester is nearing a deal with the Red Sox. However, Gammons writes that the info doesn’t appear to be accurate at this time, as Lester is set to meet with the Cardinals sometime next week."
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Martin signing starting to look like not enough The Martin signing went enough on its own before any of the Boston signings. If all the Jays do is sign Martin on this offseason, it will be a failure.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Cubs offer Lester 'north of' $135M - Jon Lester
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 If the Jays miss out on Lester, scherzer, Shields...would anyone here have an appetite for Liriano on a 2 or 3 year deal. Yep
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Cubs offer Lester 'north of' $135M - Jon Lester Good. Hope they land him. Force to the Red Sox to at least trade for pitching.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 ugh....I wish this team was willing to really go all in like the redsox....... no wonder it is 21 years and counting.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Good. Hope they land him. Force to the Red Sox to at least trade for pitching. Or pay for Scherzer and/or Shields
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 AA better step up and go all in at 7/150 for Lester.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I will reply with the same: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120916180541/degrassi/images/5/50/Barf.gif That's what it'll take for the Blue Jays to get him...at least that much.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 So then why would you want him? Pretty simple. Because he's a very good pitcher and I'd like to see the Jays win.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 AA better step up and go all in at 7/150 for Lester. AA had better not offer Lester that. We can put that money to way more effective use.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 There are many many more efficient ways of adding wins than singing Lester to $150M. It's not my money...its Rogers money. What are those more efficient ways of getting a guy like Lester?
