o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Will he give enough to Melky to convince him to stay, go after Aoki or is there some other player out there that makes sense???? or will AA just stand pat and let the kids play LLF and CF??
sdyment Verified Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I think AA addresses the infield (and its defence) and the bullpen first. After that I only see an outfielder signing if something floats to the top (ala 2014 Cruz offseason) towards the end of the offseason.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Saunders + france traslator
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Markakis on a 2/25 type deal would work. Solid defender and a scrappy left handed bat that would slide nicely into the two spot versus RHP. What's with the Aoki love here? Horrible defender.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Well after we buy one of Panda/Headley or get a stop gap 2nd baseman, sign James Shield and miller! We will be left with the kids or Suzuki and or Denorfia as new outfielders on the jays!
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 What's with the Aoki love here? Horrible defender. Head, shoulders and most of the upper torso above Melky, though...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 My guess is Saunders as well. Buck will be even more obnoxious than usual with four Canadians in the lineup.

Depends on what they do next? If they sign a stud 3rd baseman, they stay in house, if they sign a Drew/Lowrie stop-gap, probably someone like Aoki. Melky's gone.

Should be 5. They should sign Jesse Crain to an incentives deal. Edited November 20, 2014 by TwistedLogic

As long as the players make the team better, I have no problem with this. The Raptors are doing the whole "We the North" thing. Jays could one up them by fielding actual Canadian players. Just as long as they don't bring back Corey Koskie. That's just going too far.

After posting 0.8, 0.9 and 0.8 wins in each of the three years prior, Crain was worth 1.9 wins in only 36 innings of relief last year before going down and then missing the entire 2014 season. He's shown excellent consistency for four seasons in a row, his most recent performance is the best of his career, and his stock never has and probably never will be lower. Sell him the whole Canadian, "we-just-signed-Martin" thing, and see if he bites on a heavily incentives-based deal. If he's fine in spring, give him the closer job till he gives you reason to take it away.

It's a mini team Canada, there are openings in the bullpen including the closer spot and a great lineup to support the pitching staff. The guy is a boss so it's a great fit if the terms are reasonable.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 JFaS, how come you are a top-poster now that the season is over but during the season you are not posting enough!? I'm not speaking for him but a lot of fans actually are the most interested in the offseason. Journalists say that they get the most hits on their articles in the offseason and that is when interest is highest. I think I heard that Davidi's most viewed article ever written was the Darvish one and it was SN most read story of the year. Above Hockey and everything..

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 That's not why. I didn't think that was the case for you personally. But in general most people get more excited for the MLB offseason then they do the regular season.

Plus working for an MLB club.
