glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Didn't Davidi say that AA offered Anibal Sanchez an expensive five year deal prior to the Miami trade? If so, I guess there is some hope that AA would make a big offer to Martin, but I still think the chances border on slim and none.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Would 5/70 or 5/75 get it done?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Probable fate when the big boys get done and the smoke clears, we will still have Reyes and Dickey and his platoon partner! Lawrie at 3rd and a Goins/izturis combo at 2nd. AA will sign Suzuki and denaforia for outfield depth cause it fits our budget and would not have to be long term! As for the bullpen he just may have made all the moves we will see already! This sounds more likey then spending on any free agents that cost real money!
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 we should have some payroll flexibility. The Jays have Dickey's 12 mil coming off the books with a 1 mil buyout....buehrle's 19 mil, Romero's 7.5 mil, izzy's 3 mil..they just shed rasmus' dollars lind dollars and Melky's dollars as well. They don't have a lot committed for 16, 17 and 18.

Yes gotta give AA some credit here, he may not have built a playoff team yet but atleast he hasn't locked us into bad teams for years to come like the Phillies and he has rapidly rebuilt the farm even with the marlins/dickey trades. Whoever is the next GM if AA is fired is walking into a decent situation.

They were prepared to give him a lucrative 5 year contract but backed off when Sanchez agent said they were looking for 7 years and would need to talk to other teams first.
