Kind of sad how costly this season was for TB. If they win 10-15 more games, he probably stays. The challenge of competing on a small payroll is a lot less fun when things don't go your way.

Is there any reports on the $ he was offered? If the Dodgerrs said here we will offer you $15 million/year he would probably leave regardless. Its funny because we ridicule players for leaving money on the table but I am sure AF and BB, who are some of the smartest minds in baseball have left lots of money on the table to stay with their current orgs. in the past.

They have indeed, BB, would still probably be the highest paid if he took the offer. Stand up guy.

I think Tony Lacava turned down the Orioles job to stay with the Blue Jays too. Not sure if they increased his salary but I assume he would have been paid a lot more with the Orioles.

No reason to feel sorry for him. He left the Rays when they were going downward without help on the way. I feel sorry for the next Rays GM.

Yes, especially with BIG payroll cuts coming in Tampa, and the likely gutting of the roster to get payroll down to levels that more suit the attendance level (likely $60M or less), and a weak farm system. Don't be surprised if Silverman starts a fire sale.

What is fair compensation for AF? Rays will be asking for Corey Seager or Joc I'm sure.

Probably Puig +. Can you really put a price on this? Whatever they give up will be nothing compared to what they get back.

I always wondered why the big market teams don't just go to the best GM's and offer them something ridiculous like $20 million/year. The elite GMs probably bring in at least that amount of surplus value to the org. so make them an offer they can't refuse.

Friedman left the Rays only with tinder ... not logs or matches.

LA was his last best chance to get out before the Friedman mystique quickly wore off.

Hey Moogy, complete this sentence:

These actions sure sound like those of a typical Je_.

The LA thing makes it an even funnier stereotype! Tell him Mel Gibson says hi.

So I think this pretty much marks the end of the Tampa Bay rays. No way another GM will be able to replace Friedman. TB will be s*** again and the attendance will be atrocious. Team will probably be relocated within 10 years.

Montreal :)

Probably not...but at least one city is knocked off the list ahead of Vancouver and Montreal. You know eventually baseball is going to expand to 32 teams at some point in time. Man I can't wait for Canada to get another team because this ridiculous farce that the Jays are "Canada's team" can finally end. The Leafs are the most hated team across the country and Toronto is generally an object of derision for people outside the city in this country but for some reason our baseball and basketball teams are "Canada's teams". Also the team that does eventually come to Canada will be my second fav by default, a bit of an ironic twist there, except I like Montreal and can tolerate Vancouver.

It really is funny when you think of it that way. The 3 hockey teams I hate the most are Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver yet I am a Blue Jays and Raptors fan and would have the Expos as probably my 2nd fav if it comes back.

So does this mean the Friedman fanboys will leave and join a Dodgers message board?

I dunno, did they leave while he was the GM of not the bluejays, all the time?

Posted
Why not just go to one of those silly personalization stores and get "Friedman" hats and jerseys rather than feigning interest in the Rays or Dodgers, or wherever he ends up next?

Why judge how other people choose to enjoy the game, man?

When the Rays were losing they disappeared for a long period of time. The Jays started to s*** the bed and the Rays started playing better and they came back.

Oh come on... Who are "they"? You're better than this nonsense.

What did I say that was so bad? If it was out of line I will apologize.

Someone sarcastically asked if the Rays fanboys would leave because he went to the Dodgers. Then someone sarcastically asked if the fanboys left bc Friedman wasn't the GM of the Jays. But actually, they did in fact leave for a decent chunk of the season last year when the Rays were losing and the Jays (who they openly root against bc they don't like the FO) were winning. Is that so shocking? It's a Jays board, why wouldn't they stop posting as much?

As for "they," BTS quit posting for a good chunk of time mid season. I doubt he cares I said that or would even deny it.

He's the one that comes to mind but there were others too but I can't even keep tabs on who is a Rays (Dodgers) fanboy or not anymore. I don't post that much anymore.

Posted
So are all you Dodgers fanboys vehemently cheering against the Giants in the playoffs now?

always was...only man I'd cheat on Friedman with is Moz.

Yeah, but you're seeing it with glasses that have "I heart BTS" etched in the lenses.

We already covered this back closer to when it happened. As the Rays ate it this year, and the Jays were successful (early on), BTS suddenly disappeared. It lasted for weeks before anyone noticed. Then some folks tried to get him to come out and play by mocking the Rays ... and still nothing. Suddenly, when the Rays were recovering and the Jays fell back, here came (literally, figuratively and sexually) BTS, all over the board again.

I have a pair of those, too.

"Hopefully" Friedman brings his best bud, Lueke, with him so I can begin calling his new team the "RapeChargeDodgers"

Will give thanks for great pun when on a computer
