Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 it would be nice to see Pompey and Jimenez get regular starts for the jays. That would mean AA having to tell Dickey that his pet has to be put down and possibly Gose platooning with Pillar in RF. That would let the jays have some solid money to go out and get a 2nd baseman. I'll take a Pillar/Gose platoon in CF, but NO f***ING WAY IN HELL do I want 2 of Gose/Pillar/Pompey playing every day. Pompey can play in AAA.

But what is Jimenez really? Is he a great defensive player or just a guy? At this point, using him might actually be a bigger waste of space than using Thole.
metafour Verified Member Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 take Stroman off the development list. he was pretty much ready to pitch when he was drafted No, he wasn't. Since drafted he has added a strong cutter which is the main contributing factor to his upswing this past season. It is also the biggest reason as to why he has been able to lower his HR/9, which he struggled with in the minors.
metafour Verified Member Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I think the last few position players that were developed by this organization that meant something would probably be Vernon Wells, Chris Woodward, Orlando Hudson, Rios, and a few more mid-2000s guys. This is just based off my memory but I don't think there has been any developed "impact" position players since 2010. Yan Gomes was developed by the Blue Jays. No one, not even the Indians imaged him ever being this good, but he was developed by the Blue Jays.
