guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I still see Happ moving back to the pen if Sanchez can dominate as a starter in Spring Training. Maybe even Norris. I will be irate if both Buehrle and Dickey are still on the team next year....one has to go i'm not understanding why people think this is going to happen. you're not gonna get much for buehrle at that salary, you might as well just play him and part ways next year
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 No... ....Did you listen to the press conference? Alex admitted they had no information on him, no records, rushed to see him throw one bullpen session where he was "throwing fastballs in the dirt" and not throwing his slider etc., I was watching and they cut the Presser off. Jays were the runner-up to Cincy who had deep-rooted ties with Chapman according to interviews with Jocketty just after the signing. So if you're late to the party and offer less money, the likelihood would be you wouldn't get the prize.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 What would you prefer him to say? Definitely not the parts about blowing money on the bullpen and keeping the five-year rule, and it would have been nice to see him take responsibility instead of blaming everything on injuries.

Putting Happ in the pen will definitely lead to more sulking and eventually the Jays releasing him for nothing because they don't like players who sulk. Edited September 28, 2014 by GeorgiaPeach
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 137 million dollar payroll NO f***ING MONEY How much is 137 million in 2006 money?

So if you get rid of Buehrle and his 19 mill contract, you hope the money is spent more effectively and either Sanchez or Norris can fill his spot.

GNick49 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Sounds like Sanchez be closer next year as you guys make it sound like Happ, Dickey and Buehrle will be back. But Morrow, McGowan, Janssen, Santos likely gone
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Loved by 90% of fans. He is a useful small ball player. Can deliver a BB or bloop hit when you really need one out of the lower part of the order.

immature Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 i'm aware of this but i don't like the idea of purely getting rid of buehrle as a salary dump. there's far too much risk in hoping sanchez or norris can fill in for a 200 inning workhorse Its a big risk, but if it pays off and Sanchez or Norris can have a 3 WAR season individually or combined and throw 200IP there is chance this team makes the playoffs. Especially if we resign Melky and pick up a decent ss or 2nd baseman. With Buehrle the risk is much lower but the reward is also lower as your spending 19 mill on a 3 WAR player which is certainly an over-payment.
Smokey Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 What did people think he was going to say. Of course he is going to blame the injuries and the bull pen. Do people think he was going to admit he went into the season with NO bench, a no bat 2nd baseman , NO positional depth , an injury prone lineup, a proven defensive liability behind the dish, and no f***ing money from ownership to spend. These were all the holes everyone was pointing out at the start of the season. While most here think he is really stupid I don't believe he is so stupid as to admit this was the reason the Jays are an 83 win team. And somehow you're still willing to give him a pass and were saying such absurd things like "AA has been vindicated" just a few months ago. You're a joke!

This so much this If AA wants to improve the pen and he cant pbe happ for a reliever than just fire him right now
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I don't know why people are complaining about money. Rogers is a public corporation its not fair for them to spend shareholder resources after they have already provided a budget good enough for winning If the clown can't spend it properly the clown can't spend it properly
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I would get rid of Happ in a heart beat, whatever good periods he may have had, they will level out into those of an average or below average pitcher.

bill Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Exactly they are not like the government who spends and wastes taxpayers money like it's going out of style. They have to try to maximize shareholder value. I would have told AA no more money also after that disaster last year and now this year.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 happ at 6 mil is really good value, have you seen the type of s*** guys like feldman and nolasco are getting?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 happ at 6 mil is really good value, have you seen the type of s*** guys like feldman and nolasco are getting? Exactly so you should trade him and get value back. His value to another team>value to the Jays as the rotation is currently constructed.

I don't expect them to move him but i like some sort of deal with KC. They need a starter and Happ in that big ball park should do OK . Happ/Davis type of deal. Both make around 7 mil.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Boston doesn't have a 5-year policy, like I told you last time. Yep just signed Rusney to a 7yr deal in fact.

You're a joke! now Boxy most know you and Smoky are one and the same. Just once I would like to read one positive post from either of your personas And so many of you sit on your computer and think you can draft and add pieces just with a click. They run down 95 5 of the GM's in baseball and think they can do a better job . Those types are the jokes!

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I like Happ at his option, he's a solid No. 5 starter, though if they Jays are going to eventually have Sanchez in the rotation, the Jays better trade Happ to help fill out other areas on the team. I'd go out and sign Chris Capuano as a swingman for $2-3 million with an option + incentives - he could pitch out of the pen, and start as well. He'd be a valuable piece to have for depth if the Jays decide to move Happ.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Reading this thread was way more entertaining than watching the press conference would have been. Not that i ever do watch it. Now i have no f***ing idea what the f*** is going on,or what the f*** is going to happen.LOL IMO-it basically boils down to bad injuries at the worst time, and not being able to overcome or deal with it,with any depth, and it all goes back to the hockey deal. The 92-93 teams had money. This team has to rely on luck to win. I,ve seen this too many times now.We have been so close for so long, and its wearing me down.LOL There should also be a presser for Rogers officials on what is going on. Hope for the best.
