He really neglecting building the farm system but he did a really solid job in acquiring major league talent. He also was able to sign free agents and didnt come out with the 20 excuses as to why he couldnt bring anyone over

JP gets so much slack here, but some of the teams he built would have been serious contenders, and if he had the budget AA has today, things would have gone very differently
