John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Who was that that slapped Buehrle on the face instead of a high 5 Valencia I think.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Just looked at the divison standings. The Blue Jays are only .5 game closer to Baltimore than the Padres are to the Dodgers.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Just looked at the divison standings. kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 can some one post a GIF of Melky when the thunder rolled . LOL that was funny Never mind I got it. I have no frigging idea how to post a gif. hey I,m old .
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Frigging Pelly talking about hockey. I swear all Rogers now thinks about is Hockey They had him on PTS today and bobcat asked him about who is getting fired and if the jays are out of it. He responds by saying anything can happen but wasn't on the show to talk about baseball and instead talked for 20 min about that stupid Rogers gamecentre.

That's true. One advantage is that the Tigers/Royals/Indians have to play each other, the Royals still have the Yankees and Red Sox, and the Tigers have big series vs. the Royals and Giants next. As for the Mariners, they better figure out how to defeat Texas..as they are below .500 vs them, and won't have King Felix in the upcoming series. And Oakland is becoming a concern.. their implosion has dropped them to just 3 games up on the 2nd wild card. They're actually closer to the Mariners in the standings than the Angels.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 From May 12 to June 6, the Blue Jays went 20-4. They need to go 19-5 the rest of the way to finish with 90 wins and a realistic shot at a playoff spot. They've done it before. They need to do it one more time.

It is baseball season and all rogers cares about is their hockey deal . They have made tons of money off the jays. I still say the budget goes down to 120 mil or less
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Unfortunately there's a good chance 90 wins doesn't cut it. If they win 90 and miss the playoffs, I'd be OK with that. It's the years they win 82-85 games and miss the playoffs that are annoying.

I still say the budget goes down to 120 mil or less Ken I respect your opinion, but there is no chance this happens. Rogers can go to $140-150M or they can save themselves $20-30M, and likely cripple their attendance and ratings. It doesn't add up.

AA said that Rogers comes up on a number based on revenue and revenue should be higher this year than last year. Attendance is down slightly but TV numbers have been way better this year. 145 sounds like a reasonable area.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Frigging Pelly talking about hockey. I swear all Rogers now thinks about is Hockey Pelly was the worst thing to happen to the Jays. He has never been to a baseball game rather watch Carolina Hurricanes vs Sanjose Shark 1-1 tie.

Don't know why but I have a strong feeling Royals will collapse
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Don't know why but I have a strong feeling Royals will collapse Even if the Royals collapse you have to hope Seattle is mediocre as well with Cleveland and New York not going on a big run either. IF the Jays can get the gap to under 3 GB by the series with the Cubs I think we will see meaningful baseball at least.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I gave up on the season when Mariners swept the Jays 3 weeks ago. If Jays play real meaningful games in the last 2 weeks it will exceed my expectations at this point.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I have given up as well...however, if they can jump over New York and cleavland who they're half a game back of in the next few days I might gain some hope back. 4.5 games back is doable, but the amount of teams in front is the problem. A 10 game winning streak would do wonders right now.
Caper Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I have given up on the season..... but I also really haven't given up, because I keep telling myself things like. "if they can win 10 of their next 12 games"..... It would be kind of awesome if we were like 2 games back with 7 or 8 remaining.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Since Rogers and mgm gave up on this team last off season and again at deadline I've lost some interest. Firm believer this year was our opportunity. Been an obsessed Jays fan since Day 1 and always will be. Had to say kudos for the team breaking the curses at NYY and Rays home turf this season. Another great start by Stro...couple of things to be positive about for 2015. While mathematically alive, there is no realistic probability at post season 2014 and hasn't been for some time.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 At least they've made it somewhat interesting again. If any fan base deserves a miracle, its us.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 No need to worry my friends. Going to leave work early today so I can make an awesome gdt to guarantee us the win tonight. You're welcome everybody.
