Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I wonder who's losing their 40 man roster spots?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 bet gravemen never thought he would be called up this soon keep your expectations in check though..the guy barely breaks 90
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hopefully he becomes the Canadian superstar Lawrie was supposed to be (I don't know anything about him).
Caper Verified Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 bet gravemen never thought he would be called up this soon keep your expectations in check though..the guy barely breaks 90 Yeah. He'll be mop up... But that's a great start for him.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 bet gravemen never thought he would be called up this soon keep your expectations in check though..the guy barely breaks 90 Buehrle barely breaks 80 some nights. A heavy sinker at 90 is just fine, especially when combined with an almost non-existent walk rate.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hopefully he becomes the Canadian superstar Lawrie was supposed to be (I don't know anything about him). Pompey will soon take over that title while Lawrie will whimper away over the next few years unless he turns his s*** around (fix that stupid loop in his hands before swinging) and get off the f***ing Red Bull.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 No A.J. I'm actually very surprised at this, especially when AA had three catchers on the 25 man when Kratz was here. We could use A.J's late inning defense.
nmrch Verified Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 ridiculously excited about Pompey, he's not going to get much playing time but still, and Norris out of the bullpen should be fun.
tercet Verified Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 So Hynes and Hague are insta dfa.. Next in line.. Delabar Drabek Mastroianni Nolin? Lawrie to 60man dl?
SJE32 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 AJ may still. Not known to be active on twitter, Do not think Drabek or Morrow will tweet their excitement if they called up.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Buehrle is an outlier. Not many MLB pitchers out there with sustained success with crap velocity I don't get why anyone who throws under 90 is immediately expected to induce weak contact like Mark Buehrle. Guess it's the back up catcher myth/fallacy/whatever.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Nice to see Pompey get the callup.. might as well, considering he's Rule 5 eligible, and Rasmus is playing himself out of Toronto with his awful offense and declining D. Wonder if he'll get a shot playing CF down the stretch considering the questions on Pillar and Gose.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Per industry sources, #BlueJays full Sept call-up list: Norris, Nolin, Graveman, Morrow, Pompey, Gose, Goins, Johnson, Kottaras Thats from Shi Dividi
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Guess they aren't comfortable on Jimenez.. Kottaras is Canadian, BTW, and might get some shots when Dickey pitches, because he used to catch Tim Wakefield when with the Red Sox.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nolin or Graveman get a start down the stretch.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Did i miss something? What did Delbar do to piss AA off?..yah he sucked but so did santos and they kept giving him a shot..
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Did i miss something? What did Delbar do to piss AA off?..yah he sucked but so did santos and they kept giving him a shot.. Not to mention he could rebound and be useful next year. He's also cheap (I think). Wouldn't be surprised if AA picks up McGowan's option.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 This could be fun to watch! Batz to 3rd and Melky to dh, roll with pillar Gose and Pompey in the outfield ! Colby as a bench bat! This would excite me!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 As far as Pompey goes, it's undeniably a great story that he's from the GTA. However, what's most important is that he's performed at all levels this year and has basically earned this. We all know he's far from a sure thing, like most prospects, but it's great to see nonetheless.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Kottaras looks like he'll get shot to catch Dickey as 3rd catcher. Yeah, Kratz was supposed to catch him too, remember?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Kottaras looks like he'll get shot to catch Dickey as 3rd catcher. How about his first catcher....
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Pompey went out in style in buffalo, 4-6 tonight with 2 doubles raising his avg to .358.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 AJ's on the 40 man isn't he? A third catcher in Sept, is automatic! AJ Jimenez is coming off injury. Jays don't want to take a risk on him. And they probably want to see if Kottaras can replace Thole as Dickey's personal catcher next season (unless Dickey is traded).

With both Norris and Graveman being added before they needed to be (and Sanchez expected to get a spot I would assume), you have to think there's a strong chance either Dickey or Buehrle will be traded in the off-season. This doesn't make much sense otherwise.

He's only got 1 year left and could be useful for other teams looking for a veteran starter who eats innings, preferably an NL team.
