P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 So, if the Royals manage to make the playoffs this year, will that make the Jays the only team in the past 20 not to make at least one appearance? Correct.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Can this get any more depressing?
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Well, I guess next year will have to be "the year" then? Maybe sometime soon?
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Can this get any more depressing? Yes, an injury.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Yes, an injury. Was just thinking the same thing.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Disaster. It's all gone terribly, terribly wrong.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The Royals traded their top prospect(s) for a legit innings eating ace and a bullpen ace. The Jays traded their top prospect(s) for a middling knuckleballer coming off a career year, a declining SS with a terrible contract, a league average innings eater with a bad contract, and a starter who had a bum shoulder a year before the trade even happened. The Royals, even if they miss the playoffs, have to feel a lot better about their short-term move than the Jays. At least they got great value out of it.

That's what the Jays are missing.

And the Royals, even if they make the playoffs, are going to pay for it long term.. James Shields is a free agent after this season, and the Royals have concerns with the offense long-term as well.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 26-10 will be required the rest of the way to get to 90 wins. And honestly, it might even take a couple more wins than that just to secure the right to play a 1-game playoff. Edit: on the road.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Tough schedule the rest of the way. This team could actually finish under 0.500.
wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I applauded the Miami trade. I hated the Dickey trade. In both cases I think that it is going to become clear very soon that we were utterly fleeced in both of them.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Well, I guess next year will have to be "the year" then? Maybe sometime soon? The year, from top to bottom when the org... finally decides enough is enough, and spends money,and/or makes the smart baseball move will be the year we win. Just like 92-93,or from !985-!993. It seems/feels like they are just doing what they think is enough to put a competitive team on the field using corporate people.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 What does everyone think Attendance will be the ROS? I think even the casual fans know the team won't make the playoffs.

Miami lost their number 1 pitcher, and they are still in the race.Scary to think where they might be if he never gets hurt.

Better than finishing with 85 wins imo. The benefits of having a larger draft and intl budget reward losing teams a lot more than the old system.
jays76 Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I just turned the game on, typical BS I see. My word this team has really s*** the bed when it's mattered most..
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Who knew Davidi could be funny? Who knew?? Dude has, like, zero personality. Possibly negative.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 ACE RELIEVER! That's what the Jays are missing. Royals have tons of those.. have you seen their bullpen? Too bad they can't develop a decent power hitter. That lineup is going to have trouble facing the O's in October (currently in line to play Baltimore in the ALDS)

They went 23-10 without Rasmus, but i,ve said that way too many times, and Rasmus will still be in the lineup, along with Juan. I think(speculating),that some players might be pissed about the latest moves with respect to sending Gose down, but who knows. If we could just keep it close enough till September, and get Lawrie back healthy, maybe maybe......

Does predicting doom for the rest of the league ever get old to you when it rarely ever happens and the team you root for is missing the playoffs every year for over two decades?
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Yes Buck, Rasmus is a hooker. Facing Cy Young up there on the mound eh, fking blue jays?

Of course, it helps that the Giants and Cardinals have been major disappointments as well, and Pittsburgh continues to have consistency problems with their pitching. Still have the Braves to worry about, though.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 when was the last time the team didn't fold up after mid june??
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
