I don't want Weeks or Goins, just to be clear. One is garbage offensively, one is garbage defensively, neither is a really good option.

Jesus, it's a 1 year gap at worst, I'm down for this, Weeks is a douche as well, he was asked to play another position rather than play 2nd, he flat out said no, hence his playing time, his glove does not play up the middle.

This offseason was looking f***ing amazing the day the Saunders trade went down but it has been almost a nightmare since.

 

All this Duquette/Hoffman ********, Ed Rogers, and the fact we haven't made a single move since and still have multiple holes is not a good feeling.

Don't worry, once Eddie is done negotiating with Baltimore on April 5, then Alex will be free to make moves. Be patient.

As I said a month ago, I'd loveeeee if they took a flyer on Weeks. Defense is bad, but there's a monster in that bat. Four 124 wRC+ seasons in the last six. Perfect stop-gap option that you can probably re-up if Travis busts.

 

And Everth Cabrera can go f*** himself.

 

Cherry picking alert! Weeks has 1 125 wRC+ season in his past 3 and it was last year when he was basically platooned. He's also had 85 wRC+ and a 97 wRC+ seasons in the past 3. Oh ya - he's also a head case.

 

We're clearly at the point where we're picking the best of the worst.

Since nobody looks at the second base thread, would Marwin Gonzalez from the Astros be someone the Jays could get in a trade? What would we have to give? Would he be considered a upgrade? Thoughts?

May I ask why do your stats support this? I figured he is younger, a switch hitter and plays more then one posistion and might be a cheap upgrade! What do you think realistically it would take? Just wondering?

Goins, Kawasaki and Travis are all preferable options to Izturis. He was the worst player in baseball in 2013 and will be two years older while also having missed virtually the entire 2014. They should just release Izturis and save the roster spot.

Roster Resource indicates that Izturis still has options. If that's correct then he doesn't even need to be released to save the roster spot.
