z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Huh? Just because his last name is Rodriguez, otherwise hell Noooooo! Yes cause a older version of ryan Goins is what we need! Lol FML! Lol! What JFAS said.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 How much is Rodriguez expected to cost next year?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Rays just dfa Sean Rodriguez. Having this guy on the bench takes care if two spots both infield utility and outfield utility. We have clowns like valencia and izturis and pillar. Rodriguez would replace all 3 put him anywhere With the large injuries we had last year I think this is the time to add some depth Wow, he had a pretty sad year in 2014... Though, bench versatility is nice...
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Yeah Sean Rodriguez would be a nice piece on almost every roster. People don't value versatility high enough. Rodriguez can cover almost every position on the diamond defensively with some level of competence.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I think Sean Rodriguez cost $2 Million. He provides so much versatility able to play 8 positions
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I think Sean Rodriguez cost $2 Million. He provides so much versatility able to play 8 positions Well, 7... He's never played catcher. Unless you mean the whole "save the bullpen in a blowout and let some random guy pitch an inning or two..."
Blitz Verified Member Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I've said it a couple times, at least if he is a Blue Jay he doesn't get to f*** us up pinch-hitting against us every time the Rays come to town... He is a killer in the late innings.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Rodriguez would be a great pick-up. Versatile, can play nearly every position, and hits decent enough for a utility player. The Jays bench has been terrible for years. With Rodriguez, Pillar, one of Valencia/Mayberry, and Thole (ugh), we'd have a pretty decent bench for a change.
43211234 Verified Member Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I prefer Zobrist. Well so does everyone. But Zobrist is a stud while Rodriguez was just DFA'd.
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Let me see!! Donaldson: Top-15 player MLB, 4 year under control for Stroman: Bullpen arm in 2 or 3 years Lawrie: The guy that could be a star, but will not be. Pompey: The talented OF ALA Dominic Brown, Travis Snider, BJ Upton, Colby Rasmus, JF Griffin, Delmon Young. Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We gave up LESS THAN THAT. How f***ing awesome is it that we were willing to give up more as fans than we had to... Rad.
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 What trade value do Navarro and Happ have? Just curious. I assume we dont want to touch any more of our prospects and we are done with any big trades. Do we really want to trade Happ? I am not a big fan of his but he provides great depth at an injury prone position.
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 My mind is not in baseball mid season form. Can anyone think of any cheap (via trade or FA) left handed hitter who rakes righties but sucks against lefties? Just thinking about platoon options for Mayberry and Danny V.

My Lind jersey is crying right now
Spoonovic Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 My Lind jersey is crying right now Yeah, Lind would have been the perfect guy. This has probably been mentioned many times on this forum but I feel that he wasn't traded because of his contract or his performance on the field but more so because of his attitude and comments to the media. AA sure got rid of that Lawrie/Romero/Snider/JPA/Lind "bro" group fast.

Snider would look nice in LF for us next year, and Lind would look nice as a DH/1B/Bench bat... And we really got no return for either of those guys...
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 1. Jose Reyes, SS 2. Russell Martin, C 3. Jose Bautista, RF 4. Edwin Encarnacion, 1B 5. Josh Donaldson, 3B 6. LH DH/Valencia 7. Left Fielder 8. Second Base 9. Dalton Pompey, CF
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I think AA identified Lind and Lawrie as potentiol club house issues, and got rid of them accordingly.

43211234 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) The more I think about it, the more ok I am with a Dirks/Pillar platoon in LF. I think they could reasonably combine to be a league average bat with above average LF defence. Could hopefully squeeze 2+ wins out of them. But there is definitely something to be said for having a more established player with less variance in a reasonable expectation. Edited November 29, 2014 by 43211234

It got a LOT easier to accept that platoon (and Travis at 2nd, I still want nothing to do with Goins ever...) after last night.
