Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Sources: #BlueJays option Anthony Gose to triple-A Buffalo to make room for EE:
kgm1 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Pretty much what I expected. Hope they told him to work on his bunting and reading pitchers moves. guy has to get bunt singles and steal bases to get on the plus side of WAR.

It's only for 2 weeks anyway, since he'll be back up when the rosters expand. Getting him the everyday at bats in between is probably a good idea.
SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 He'll be back in September... Sadly our backup outfielders are now Reimold and Tolleson. There goes all the defence and speed that was in Toronto's lineup. No late inning defensive replacement, no late inning pinch runner. Again, this move makes me question the Jays decision making.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 pfft... no big deal, Stroman can pinch run.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Its total bull that we have to sit through more crap from Rasmus while Gose goes back to AAA
bendera3 Verified Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I honestly can't keep up with all these moves. I feel like I have to check every day to see who is a Blue Jay today.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 It should have been Tolleson, Gose is too valuable in this stretch run.

Gose has lots of talent, but just isn't smart enough to use his own skills to create himself a spot. with his speed he should have learned how to bunt as a teenager, but he still thinks he's a power threat and has not made the adjustment since getting drafted, which means he probably wont.

I think we all know Gose needs to get better at bunting, but it's not like even a great bunter is suddenly going to start getting multiple bunt hits every week. The best modern era season total is 29 by Brett Butler in 1992 with a 57% success rate.

GNick49 Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I think Gose can be another Gomez type player. Carlos scuffled with the bat his first few years in the league. He will never win a batting championship but has developed into an all-star, Gold Glove, 25hr/40sb centerfielder. If they give him the chance.

I'd be surprised if he broke 10
GNick49 Verified Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 You seriously think goes will break 15 HR's a year? I'd be surprised if he broke 10 Like I originally said...he reminds me of Carlos Gomez. Gomez never hit over 8 a season until his 4th year in league. Now he's hit over 20hr a season for last 3 years. Gose hit 16hr one year in minors. Yes, I see a little power potential there. Gose one of those types who seems to be evolving his game.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Gose will be lucky to be a league average bat. His value will be his D and his speed on the bases. He should be good enough to be our primary CF for the next few years (preferably in a platoon).
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 At least he hits enough that he can play regularly, and is not a liability like Jackie Bradley Jr. of the Red Sox, whose lack of offense is going to hurt any chance of him being a regular unless he changes his swing.

JBJ - True talent 82 wRC+ Gose - True talent 81 wRC+ Additionally, JBJ projected to save 3 times as many runs on defense as Gose. You're really, really bad at this.

Obviously the mods have decided that he's worth keeping around and I would love to hear the rationale behind that.

Jim_Ackers_balls Verified Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I bet Gibbons isn't happy. He loves having Gose defense. AA must have over ruled him. Our backup CF is now Bautista again. Bautista can't even play RF anymore.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Bautista can't even play RF anymore. What? He is still an average RF...

What was sad reading this is that we all know that the Jays wont sign the guy. We cant have nice things.
