NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 23 strikeout in 11.2 triple-A innings... that is not normal. Lots of swinging strikes too going through the pitch-by-pitch. Daniel Norris does NOT mess around.
frizzer1 Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 In 2 to 3 years we could see Hutchison,Stroman,Sanchez,Norris and maybe Hoffman .....without a single big contract. I can dream can't I?
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 You can't dream without Miguel Castro. And Osuna, Tirado and Smoral And then some Boyd, Graveman, Nolin to fill in the gaps.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Adonys Cardona you bikes Don't forget Smoral. He's up to Vancouver now! #nextstopthemajors
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Can we please keep the fapping to Daniel Norris and not a bunch of org guys? Thx.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 When Norris's command is on he is almost unhittable. His command has gotten away from him at times but the stuff is just so good from the left side. Hard not to root for a guy who has his makeup as well.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Osuna is a future Ace, book it Ah nothing like the book it quote.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Imagine if they hadn't made those trades in 2012...Syndergaard, Stroman, Hutchison, Norris, Sanchez. Plus a likely top 5 pick in the 2014 and 2015 drafts. How high is Norris's value now and what could he get you in a trade? Not saying trade him, but maybe consider trading Hutchison in the off season? Certainly don't want AA making these types of moves, but the team will need to get creative. Well, we said this last off season so don't hold your breath.

Isn't pitching king right now? So what's more valuable young controllable position players or pitchers?
Slider Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Norris will be fun to watch. Good left handed pitchers are hard to come by,

Pitching will always be valuable but in the current declining run environment, hitting is going to be the premium.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 A win is a win is a win... winning is a product of maximizing your run differential, which you do by piling up WAR. A 3-win pitcher is equally as productive as a 3-win hitter. Regarding the changes to the run environment, a rising tide lifts all boats. Every team finds it "easier" to find pitchers who produce historically-decent unadjusted numbers.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Daniel Norris is f***ed. Good God. I'm never seen a Jays prospect rocket through the Minors like this. We are witnessing something special, folks. Travis Snider, Brett Lawrie

Every team finds it "easier" to find pitchers who produce historically-decent unadjusted numbers. A position player is more valuable usually though because of the injury risk with pitchers. You might take a 3win pitcher over a 3 win position player if you only have one or two years of control left but I would think if you are talking about guys with over 4 years of control left you take the position player because pitchers are more likely to become hurt or less effective.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Point is, trading Hutch at present value is a really dumb idea unless you're getting a young mlb ready cost controlled player. You won't get that so no point.

You won't get that so no point. It could be Hutchison or Bautista, along with Buehrle/Dickey/Reyes. The general idea is that I think the team needs to create payroll room to plug the holes it has. I like Hutchison a lot, don't get me wrong, it's just an idea although he's probably not at his peak value. At the end of the day, I don't expect much to happen since AA has prove he can't address his team's glaring holes and I don't expect him to get fired. And even if AA was fired, Beeston would probably hire Cito Gaston to replace him.
