What? For Jorge f***ing de la rosa? That guy? Wtf...

Yes Jorge De La Rosa the guy who has been the Rockies ace for the last 5 yrs and owns the franchise's all time winning percentage who led them to the playoffs 3yrs ago and has playoff experience. Yes Jorge De La Rosa who pitches in the place where pitchers get murdered on a regular basis who came in here last yr and threw a 1 hitter. Yes Jorge De La Rosa who is one of baseball's most underrated pitchers aka Mr. Rodney Dangerfield. You know, that guy..

Let Sanchez start in place of Hutch for a game or two and see if it helps Hutch to have a long rest

Yeah he had the all star break to rest... For some reason he just stinks at the RC, 2nd worst home ERA in majors? Something like that.

I probably would only give up that package for Price out of all the starters on the market. Wouldn't even give that up for Lester.

Well, Price = 1.4 seasons + possiblity of draft pick, Lester = 0.4 seasons and no draft pick

Exactly! Our lineup is not an issue with EE, Lind, Lawrie, and Reimhold platooning Lind. The only obvious hole is 2nd and Muni has done more than enough to be good 9 hole hitter. See if you can pick up a cheap pitcher keeping Hutch, Sanchez, Norris, and Stro intact and our rotation should be solidified for this season with huge potential in the future.

Yeah I've changed my mind 180 degrees too

Hutch, Dickey and Happ all make me nervous, albeit in vastly different ways

A Shields or Price would be sweet right about now. But will not hold breath.

They would be nice, but what would be awesome is if in 2 years we have a Rotation of Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, Hutch......That is straight up Cardinal type s*** right there lol

I mean the only prospect I would be willing to give up is Pompey (I will get s*** on for this) only because hitters have been mostly misses with this team. Just playing the odds lol.

Hutch is just as good, 10 years younger and costs 10 times less, and you want to throw in nolin and Pompey too? WAT.

Ok, I get it now. You are trolling.

No I'm dead serious, check out my last blurb on JDL above. I'm not crazy about Hutch (young inconsistent pitcher coming off TJ surgery) or Pompey (overhyped perhaps?) and personally where there's glitter doesn't always mean there's gold as witnessed by Nolin's 40.5 ERA in his major league debut, he may be the next JA Happ. Would I give up that for the proven ace of Coors field who's owed 4M for rest of this season and $10-15M next season AKA the E. Santana money AA had this off season...Hell yes!

He's a bad guy to go against because he has defense and base running on his side, also a switch hitter.

That's just it. As much as people want to say this team is screwed for the future, they are not. As long as we keep our top young pitching, this team has a lot to look forward too. Add Osuna to the mix as another high upside SP who should be banging on the door in two years. Also let's not forget Nolin, we need some arms to round out the rotation and overall depth and he could fit the bill.

I think everyone knows that one of those top guys is going to get hurt or be ineffective. Sanchez most likely is never going to live up to the hype and wont be much more than a number 3 or will get hurt with his delivery and high velocity. Out of Norris Hutch and Nolin you might get one number 3 and a number 4 starter with the other getting hurt or being ineffective.

Look at what happened with Shelby Miller, looked like a future number 2 and now he is becoming a future Ricky Romero. I still agree that the pitching looks great for the future as there is also a ton of lower level high upside pitchers that will have a few pan out.

:) Oh I'm there alright.

Do you realize they are the same pitcher? Why would you trade all that youth and control plus two other prospects for an aging pitcher?

No one who understands the game expects all of them to pan out, but two of them have already had success in the Majors in Stroman and Hutch, two are top 50 prospects in Sanchez and Norris, one is a high upside SP in Osuna who has been slowed down by TJS and the last is a backend guy who has had success at the higher levels in the minors and in a best case scenario could be a mid rotation SP in Nolin. Out of that group, if 3 pan out as expected were in good shape.

I don't know we're going to have to agree to disagree, I think JDL has proven himself over the years and has a couple of good years left (which is all we need). Hutch is younger yes but significantly more inconsistent where JDL has been an ace at Coors field, imo Hutch would probably be nearing a double figure ERA pitching there.

Anyways this is all just fun speculation as the Rockies would probably shoot down the offer and AA & the gang would probably be too cheap to take on that salary even if it was enough. The O's have been trying to pry him for over a month now with prospects and there was a rumored package including Gausman who I'd probably prefer than Hutch.

De La Rosa is no Ace, stop throwing that word around so lightly

#3 please.

The pessimism from some around this team never fails to amaze me. We are .5 out of WC and up today 5-0 on Bosox looking at 3 out of 4 using an ad hoc Bisonish lineup.

I get the frustration but we are still very much in it with some key lumber and leather on its way back soon.

An equal reasonable argument for making big move(s) and moving if, come maybe prospects to go for a flag that flies forever can be made.

Tough choices.

Lol I'll admit I'm having a lot of fun with this and it is a half troll but I do sincerely think that JDL is underrated and a damn good pitcher. He actually has been the ace of the Rockies the last few years (I mean who's better on that team?). If he was under control for a few years yes I would make that trade, given that he's a rental this year with us owning the rights to match next year or receive a compensatory draft pick I'd definitely give up Nolin and another mid level prospect.

f*** no.... Rasmus is going to carry the offence in August

I don't know Mariners have already inquired about Stubbs from the Rockies why not Dangle Rasmus out their. Gose would be just as good in the CF in the stretch run batting 9th.

How many #9 hitters do we need on this team? :P

Less than right now. You add Lawrie, Lind, EE and get Franklin to Replace Goins, Kawa, Francisco, and Johnson you are getting rid of a lot of #9 hitters there lol.

Just because you're the best pitcher on given team, doesn't qualify you as an "ace". People like to use that term for the top 10-15 pitchers in the game (if that). Guys like Kershaw, Felix, Wainwright, are legitimate aces. That's what Atothe is getting at.
