Lewis can suck farts, we're scratching by to stay in contention.

f*** him, it was a 2 run game?!

Glad to see we are on the same page with this.

Lewis also looked like he was gonna cry when he didn't get calls that were half a foot off the plate. he's a whiny little bitch.

What a dummy. Jays are a team fighting for a wildcard, have had trouble scoring runs, and we're talking about the middle of a close game. Colby should have cussed him out for even acting like he was offended.

"I told [Rasmus] I didn't appreciate it," Lewis said. "You're up by two runs with two outs and you lay down a bunt. I don't think that's the way the game should be played."

When pressed further on what the problem with Rasmus' bunt was, Lewis insinuated that the outfielder put himself before his team.

"I felt like you have a situation where there is two outs, you're up two runs, you have gotten a hit earlier in the game off me, we are playing the shift, and he laid down a bunt basically simply for average," Lewis said.

Colby Lewis doesn't understand the most basic attributes of baseball. Huh.

There are enormous incentives to winning, getting on base is what a hitter is paid to do, a two-run game in the fifth is a close game, etc.

I like how the bunt for a base hit can be interpreted as both an entirely selfish (basically simply for average) or entirely selfless (don't go for the long ball, get on base for the team to drive you in) play.

This may be the stupidest thing I've ever heard a player say re: unwritten rules. Just colossally moronic on so many levels. Good Lord.

Weird...I remember Garza yelling at Oakland As for doing the same thing to him last year just as he started with Texas

Colby did the unselfish thing here. It's selfish to always bash the ball right into the shift because you're trying for a double or home run. Bunting or hitting the ball the other way usually means the best you'll do is a single - it's completely unselfish! Further, if you don't want Colby to bunt for a single then stop with the shifts.

What Colby did there he should always do - chances are it will help his average and it helps the team - puts a guy on - forces the opposing pitcher to throw more pitches to the next guy and eventually it forces the opposition to stop using the shift - then Colby can rake. If it was 8-0 the pitcher has a point but even then - The rules of such things are usually related to "after the 7th."

Things like not taking the extra bass going from 1st to 3rd or stealing when the team is up by 7 after the 7th kind of thing. But 2-0 in the 5th. Now they need to teach Navarro to hit the ball the other way.

I remember a story about Jim Abbott, the one handed pitcher. He said whenever he pitched in a new setting (high school, college, MiLB) he would have guys bunting to him on purpose to see if he could actually field the ball given that he had to switch between throwing and fielding with the one hand. He did. And now we have this fully-able jackass complaining about someone else taking advantage of a situation (not related to someone's disability but an opening like a shift).

If there was an unspoken rule about bunting in baseball, it probably would be "don't pick on the handicapped guy". And yet that did happen and Abbott's response was to get those guys out successfully, not to cry about it.

The guys on the Cubs broadcast just agreed with Rasmus. One of them said it's crazy what Lewis is saying.

If Lewis is right you may as well pack the whole sport up.

Hey if we're lucky we'll see a bench clearing brawl after Colby is plunked tomorrow. Well let's just hope that this is one of these stupid clichés that lights a fire under the belly of this lackluster injury-prone team and turns around the season.

laying down a bunt with a 9 run lead would be one thing...but it was 2 to 0. I know texas is bad.....but they aren't so bad that it would be inconceivable for them to come back from a 2 run deficit.
