bowld Verified Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 FOX Sports' Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal report that the Angels, Blue Jays and Tigers have been in contact with Rangers regarding Joakim Soria. The Angels would be the best landing spot for Soria from a fantasy perspective, as he would figure to have the best chance to remain a closer. Soria is making a reasonable $5.5 million this season with a $7 million club option for 2015, so it's no surprise that he's drawing interest. He's put up a 2.76 ERA and ridiculous 40/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings this season. I assume Casey would stay our closer so he would likely be some bullpen depth?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Meh. Good for the pen I guess. Would setup this year and take over as closer next.
sh3156 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 AA this morning Allright Guys, I need a 2B, 3B, OF, Starter, DH Oh let me contact the Rangers about a closer *Shakes head
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 well, we don't know if it's true nor we do know if this perhaps just 1 of many discussions AA has or is having....
abola2121 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 AA must have a serious hard-on for 30+ y/o players with bloated contracts. He ought to take a chance on Arik Sikula, instead. He's been lights-out in the minors and wouldn't cost $7,000,000.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 lol, people think GMs are only capable of talking about one or a few specific positions at a time. The business acumen on this forum. well, we don't know if it's true nor we do know if this perhaps just 1 of many discussions AA has or is having.... Don't be silly. It's physically impossible to be considering more than one trade at any given time. This definitely means that there's no chance of any other moves being made, for the next twelve years.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I would definitely take anybody on this forum as GM over Anthopoulos. It would be magnificent to read all the stories from other team's GMs about how the Blue Jays general manager collapses into a miserable fit of rage everytime they reject one of his trade offers.

pickoff22 Verified Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 If this is part of a bigger package, sure I can see it. But it's not just Soria coming from Arlington. Imagine if to get Beltre we were forced to take back JP. OMG I just puked in my mouth.

This essentially what shortstop said (AA may be having many trades). I find it odd that you twist-around what he said and then people are thanking you for it?
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Maybe the Jays will convert Soria to a 3b/SS.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Maybe the Jays will convert Soria to a 3b/SS. Made me chuckle On the same note, can Santos still play short???

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Made me chuckle On the same note, can Santos still play short??? Considering he was a below average minor league shortstop, how do you define 'still play' lol.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 According to Rosenthal Jays are first considering Sanchez to the big leagues in the pen before they make any trade
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Also Jays considering Norris to AAA then to the pen later in the season as well according to Rosenthal

Ugh lol Rangers like taking on contracts with injury risks so let's try and send them Santos again

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I still can't believe the Rangers over the last few years haven't pursued Adam Lind...

Ugh lol Rangers like taking on contracts with injury risks so let's try and send them Santos again Adding a young starter to the pen isn't necessarily a bad idea. Giving a young starter an unwarranted promotion to the majors after giving him an unwarranted promotion to AAA is a very bad idea. Pen or not, Sanchez is going to get rocked here. But this org has been a complete gong show for awhile now, so this is hardly surprising.

If the starter is ready for the show and you want them to get some work in ie like with Marcum in his first Sept call up, and even Drabek. Sanchez isn't ready. At least not right now. But like you said, it's a gong show.

I have a feeling, if true, someone else might have been going to Texas too. Glad it didn't happen. Probably mostly speculation and/or rumours. I never understood that "feature" on the old boards or on some other boards that you can't edit a post later and/or after someone replied.
