GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Hammel + Shark for Russell, McKinney and Straily? fap. fap. fap. beach towel.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 bump. Didn't see this thread before starting one, my fault. Wow the A's just got extremely deep in SP. They are the team to beat now.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 This is true. If one of Norris, Sanchez or even Nolin pan out, things start to get interesting. If you can have 3/5 of your rotation making league min, or close to that, it brings some great roster flexibility. I still think you have to add someone in the offseason if you want to have an above-average group in 2015. Add a top-30 starter, and roll with: new guy Hutchison Stroman Dickey/Buehrle Norris/Nolin/random guys That's a potentially nice group. I just don't think you can rely on a future Norris/Stroman/Hutch/Sanchez/Nolin rotation panning out. At least not if you have playoff aspirations.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Good haul for the Cubs. Good haul for the A's too, definitely.
Convo Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Well then A's just guaranteed themselves the division and probably the WS.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Also, who started this thread? I'd like to temporarily remove them from ignore so it shows up in the discussion list.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Can someone give an equilivent of Jays prospects to the ones the As have up
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I'm not a prospect guy, how good are these guys going to the Cubs? I like that the A's picked up multiple pieces in the deal, filling multiple needs. I think that's the only way you can justify these types of deals.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Does this mean cubs are going to trade castro in the near future?
Convo Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I'd take the Cubs side easily. Cool story bro. Of course you would say that, because unproven talent is always better then proven talent. Let's not even account for the fact that A's are making this trade so they can win a WS this year. But wait, you'd rather take the high draft pick guys and hope you have a contending team in 5+ years... yeah that sounds better then what the A's are doing.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Can someone give an equilivent of Jays prospects to the ones the As have up Something along the lines of Stroman, Nay, and Nolin.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 So what would it cost for just shark? Price dropped

I f***ing hate old, expensive players and teams. Sorry that you do.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Good haul for the A's too, definitely. Yep Great trade both ways Makes sense for both teams
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Something along the lines of Stroman, Nay, and Nolin. Wow that's less than I expected
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Jays did not have a top 5 prospect like Russell. Plus he's a SS. Jays position players are not in the top 100 prospects
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Something along the lines of Stroman, Nay, and Nolin. Cubs' packages is like 12x better than that.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Something along the lines of Stroman, Nay, and Nolin. That is not even close to what a's just gave up

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Yea we were not competing with Russell. Shocked Oakland moved him. This is the year Oakland needs the world series though. They needed to make a splash. They keep coming so close... They had the offense already. Now they have the pitching. They look like the best team in the AL now for sure. Far more complete and well rounded than Detroit, Toronto, NYY and Anaheim.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Cubs' packages is like 12x better than that. That is not even close to what a's just gave up I dunno, the only pieces that actually matter are Russell and Stroman. Russell is the more valuable prospect IMO, but I wouldn't say it isn't close. Stroman at 23 has carved up every level and now looks like an above-average MLB starter.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 So, yea we get to face an extra right hander this weekend?? Small victories help me sleep at night
