Convo Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Great game today, Hutch was awesome. He's a bit of anomoly in that some starts his stuff looks electric and other starts it looks rather flat. I just hope it has something to do with him working his way back from the TJ.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 it's called playing down to your opponent. It happens a lot in sports. guys get psyched up for tough games and dont get mentally into the right place for games that should be easy. While that statement is true for sports like football and basketball, I don't believe that is true for baseball. Position players really don't play against each other but rather the pitchers. Baseball is a team game that is all about individual matchups. And because teams play so many games over the course of the season let down games don't really exist. Now if a team has an extra inning game and has to fly to a a different city for a game the day after, I think travel can have an advantage in that case.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Great game today, Hutch was awesome. We got lucky a little bit to be honest. Ump wasn't giving any border line strikes on the outside to righties, which 95% of umps give. And then the fact that pretty much their entire lineup was chasing those high fast balls was crazy.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I won't look it up 'cause I don't wanna get frustrated by the answer since they're 3-7 against the Twins and White Sox and 3-6 vs the Yanks.... The infamous eighth inning vs the Twins is still the worst loss I've seen this year. The game was absolutely handed to them. Ugh.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 LTBF are you making the gdt today?

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Someone let me know when I'm back for GDT rotation, I thought there was a schedule in place for Orgfiller/King lol
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Ya Hutch was good today, right from the 1st inning. Great start by Hutch. I was getting the feeling that he was having arm troubles, but this start swept aside those doubts nicely. Now if Dickey could ever get past the 90 pitch point successfully, and Happ wasn't always good pitcher/bad pitcher we'd have a rotation.

flafson Verified Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Holy s***, Edwin in left field. That can't be good. I think we tried that in 2012 and he hurt himself trying to catch a foul ball.
