gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Average offense, I beg to differ? The Twins pitching is a different story, the Birds offense needs to wake up starting tonight, with a solid start from RA. GO JAYS GO!!! I'm more than confident the Jays offense will step up tonight. I just don't want to be on the wrong end of a 7-6 game.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Your comment. I wouldn't talk, you've had some f***ing doozies before yourself.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I'll be impressed if he makes it passed the 5th inning. expecting him to be anything close to an "ace" is just asking for disappointment.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 A very impressive 62 wRC+ through 162 PAs in AAA! That's above average, right? You got your thinking cap on tonight. Good for you..
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 I don't get it, he's enamoured with s***ing on Dickey, but will fight through tooth and nail to defend Goins? How am i s***ing on Dickey? Are you f***ing losing it? Read post #1 Holy f*** this place.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 A very impressive 62 wRC+ through 162 PAs in AAA! That's above average, right? So i make a thread wanting Dickey to step up and you kids turn it into this. Enough said.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Not likely RA had 6 straight starts going 6 innings with 3 or less earned runs...then he gave up 5 over 5 and 2 runs over 5 last start. He doesn't get rocked every time out. He's definitely not an ace. He also isn't being paid like an ace. He's a solid veteran guy. He's 6 and 4 and will eat innings and win some games. I still think his ERA at the end of the season will be in the 3.8ish range, which is a solid starter.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 So i make a thread wanting Dickey to step up and you kids turn it into this. Enough said. No, you made a thread stating that this is Dickey's most important start as a Blue Jay, which is an absolutely ridiculous statement. Its f***ing June.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 So WTF does that have to do with Ryan f***ing Goins dipshit? We're just reminding you that your "predictions" and "projections" are s***. I remember that thread you started about Dickey in ST. Didn't you also make a bet with someone that Dickey would end the season with an ERA over 5? Lol
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 You seem to have forgotten that you spent a lot of time (2000+ post thread) arguing that he would be a viable major league player, Candy simply asked how he was doing. He's not doing very well. I'm aware of that and that's fine, but why the need to attack on a thread that is totally off topic?

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 You will forever be associated with Ryan Goins, there's no turning back. You should think about changing your name! Nah,its ok. There's nothing to be ashamed of if you make a mistake. It's takes maturity to move forward, you guys should try it sometimes. Oh wait, this is the only place where you can rip on people without getting the s*** kicked out of you. As you were..
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 No,its 4.5 you snaught ragging exaggerating moron. Ok well 4.5 is not a bad bet. I personally think his ERA will be closer to 4. We shall see at the end of the season!

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 I'll forgive you for loving Ryan Goins if you learn from it. Make sure to not get too attached to the next random 26-year-old with no prospect pedigree or performance track record that has an opportunity for playing time. It's his defense that is not random. If he could only hit in the .250 / .300 range, he'd stick. The way things have turned out though with the addition of Francisco and Lawrie playing a decent second base has turned out for the better. TBH if he could handle LHP or was a right handed hitter, he's probably be here instead of Tolleson.

Yes goins would be valuable at .250/.300, but when he can barely do it at AAA at 25 and isn't even doing it right now in AAA at 26, there's really No reason to expect he's capable of it in the majors.

I was luke warm on him which thus far has turned out to be wildly optimistic. But you were right about Dickey and the importance of this night. That wise bastard Dickey was in the dugout from the moment he got pulled to the bitter end giving tips to Dusty and probably helpling Sietzer give hitting tips to the boys. Man of the night R.A. Dickey.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Gruber you gotta admitted, for how bad Dickey has been pitching Goins has been that bad with the bat
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Gruber you gotta admitted, for how bad Dickey has been pitching Goins has been that bad with the bat Wut? I just wanted Goins to stick because of the middle infield defense he brings, period.
Jayday Verified Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I'm not going to pile on. How is your buddy Goins doing?[/quote And how are the Rays doing so far?So Gruber thought Goins could be a productive player...and ? Many thought the Rays would be much better than they are showing so far...and ? Gruber thinks today's start is the most important one Dickey had as a bluejay.... and? So if you are going to jump into a conversation, stick to the topic on hand, and maybe at least attempt to explain why his view might not apply, and listen to his view on why it might. If both cannot agree, then call it off in a mannerly way showing respect, and move on to the next thread
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Three straight games of not making it through 6. 05/29 vs Royals: -.452 WPA 06/04 vs Tigers: -.231 WPA 06/09 vs Twins: -.043 WPA Guy has been the definition of average lately. He needs to be better (especially against lousy offensive teams like KC and the Twins). Incredibly lucky to be bailed out by his pen night after night. I think Dickey will go on a streak at some point but this is not promising right now.

If Dickey has any hunger for the game left in him he needs to start showing it. s***, just give us seven innings, even if you give up 4-5 ER in the process.

It is up to Gibbons wether Dickey can go 7 and give up 5 runs. I have no doubt Dickey is capable of this. Was on track to do it last night. If the Jays score 14 some night I am sure Gibby will let Dickey go 7 and give up 4 or 5.
