DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I agree the conclusion that he is declining badly is probably wrong and it is because of injury BUT. That stats used aren,t. As Moogy points out the back injury has hugely affected his performance and he isn't worth trading for. Not worth trading for is subjective. I'd give then Delabar and Happ but I don't know what they're asking for.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Are the cubs going to trade Arrieta?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Not worth trading for is subjective. I'd give then Delabar and Happ but I don't know what they're asking for. Why Happ? he's more valuable to the Jays ATM than Headley would be
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Why Happ? he's more valuable to the Jays ATM than Headley would be Salary dump in order to maintain payroll and hopefully add a decent pitcher.Adding. a pitcher pushes Happ to the BP and diminishes his valuue to the Jays. Doeant have to be Happ though. Headley would be an upgrade so why not add him for redundant pieces that are easily replaceable in FA.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Are the cubs going to trade Arrieta? I think they'd trade anyone at this point.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 What do you guys think of Trading for Edwin Jackson in a salary kind of dump move for the Cubs? His ERA is fugly, but he's put up a 3.91 FIP and 3.82 xFIP. He's striking out 8.53k/9 so he can still miss bats. Worth 1.0 fWAR so far this year and is known to be very durable. His BABIP has been one of the highest in his career this year @ 344. Good chance he puts up 180+ innings in the last 2 years of his contract. Ricky Romero + Kyle Drabek ( i always hear that the Cubs like, not sure if that's actually true) for Edwin Jackson. Why the Cubs do it? They get out of the Jackson contract and Romero is only signed through 2015 for less $ per year. They get a former top prospect who could still maybe be a nice bullpen piece or backend starter in the NL on the cheap. Thoughts on Jackson?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Dude never beats his xFIP IIRC. I feel like if we're going for an xFIP beater, McCarthy is the way to go. If not we should be going for a legit 2.
admin Site Manager Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 What do you guys think of Trading for Edwin Jackson in a salary kind of dump move for the Cubs? Not a bad idea imo, good buy low candidate. Has been someone AA has always liked I believe as well. Though I'd like to see a bigger move made.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 13m In #BlueJays' quest for SP, #Phillies' Hamels would appear longshot. Sources tell me and @jonmorosi that Jays are on his no-trade list.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 You'd be buying high. And that's waay too much for someone without a track record.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Anyone else wondering what it would take to get Dozier out of Minny? Seems like they have a lot of ss,2b,3b depth in their system and not so much in the pitching department. Sanchez + Norris? Enough? To much? are you joking or no? you are talking about Brian Dozier right? I wasn't sure if you maybe were looking at Mike Trout's stats and confused them in proposing that package.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I want: 1. A starting pitcher rental 2. A young or young-ish long-term 2B solution 3. One more BP arm

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 add in a RH platoon and that's about "all" we need If only we had taken care of 1-2 of these things in the off season
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 If you landed #1 wouldn't that inherently give you #3? Yes, presuming you're not trading away Happ in the deal I made that point myself in another thread
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 i honestly think our bullpen can repair itself. between santos and delabar, i think one of them can turn the corner and make our pen respectable.

Actually this is almost certainly true Cecil Loup McGowan Janssen Santos/Delabar Jenkins Should be enough to get by
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 add in a RH platoon and that's about "all" we need If you get an everyday 2B, it gets easier to roster Kratz and use the three-headed catching monster to cover right-handed DH. Two birds, one stone.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Actually this is almost certainly true Cecil Loup McGowan Janssen Santos/Delabar Jenkins Should be enough to get by I think Daniel Norris could probably be a devastating reliever in September for this team if brought up. A lefty that can give you multiple innings and strikeout people. Also always have loved Wagner, hopefully he can come back healthy.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 i don't mind DHing dinner vs lefties but f***ing thole is the black hole that keeps on giving Getting rid of Thole would greatly simplify things but if that was going to happen it probably would have happened by now.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 "Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 32m If the Rays trade David Price, which remains likely, they are open to trading him within the AL East." Unfortunately it seems pitching is less of a priority than a bat right now.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 "Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 32m If the Rays trade David Price, which remains likely, they are open to trading him within the AL East." Great news for us. Trade Sanchez, Norris, Pompey, Nay and Lugo for Price and Forsythe, and lose all the games 1-0
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 What do you guys think of Josh Willingham? Long-term he may not be a good option, but if Edwin is out for an extended period of time he may be a good buy low opportunity. Shift Melky to RF, Willingham to LF, and Bautista to 3B/1B
