If they were legitimately cheering for the Rays over the Blue Jays and not just quietly respecting them from afar then the answer is No. I don't think you can be a true fan if your allegiance is in multiple places. Also that fits in nicely with the definition of a "fanatic".

When a friend or acquaintance rips the Jays or Leafs constantly and seem to genuinely hate the team in bad times, I will always decree that YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CHEER FOR THEM WHEN THEY INEVITABLY WIN ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP, and then I make note to slash their tires the night before the big game so that they're stuck at home.

In my defense I really only hate Toronto teams in good times...that's when the non-fans of the sport come out. No matter how the team does I'll still be a fan of Rays head office...that won't change until it's no longer Friedman around.

There's much more butthurt in this thread from the rabid Jays fans here than the Rays guys. Lmao, holy s***.

And when Syndergaard flops, you'll be targeted as well lol.

Pretty sure the team winning has a lot more to do with that. Every board needs intelligent opposition, the issue with this board is that many of us started getting information that the F.O. wasn't what we thought it was, and the Rays happened to be the best example of what we thought the Jays were going to be. Good on the Jays for winning, it's the only answer for them. As for me, my season will be no less disappointing as before when the Jays were not winning, I'm still going to watch a shitload of baseball.

Today's comments from AA and Beeston actually regained me a little bit of respect for the FO

Though yeah, I always saw us becoming "the Rays with money" and we never got anywhere near to that ideal

But they DID throw a talented (if incomplete) group together and they're fun to watch. I'm really enjoying this season.

At least I'll be steadfast, unlike you whom before this season was parading how s*** the team was gonna be and now you've joined the Jays ball-washing and Rays bashing as well.

You just keep posting your .gifs

the rays have lost 7 in a row....they may never win again. I kind of feel bad for the rays fans....I think we should let them back into the fold.

Yep... 24 year die hard fan, who was just sick of losing, but never did I once root for a division rival. Never did I once throw the Santos/Morrow are amazing because of their xFIP card, and act insanely obnoxious because I couldn't regurgitate Fangraphs stats of every player since Doubleday (or whoever) created the game. Whether they win or lose, I'm here, and I'm always willing to own up to bad predictions and eat crow. Looks like my 83-79 prediction will be wrong. I'm happy to say it. Can't say the same for you phonies.

Listen. Play along.

Bingo.....him of all people? *sighs*

Says the dummy who praises every move the team makes. You're definitely one of the top 3 dumbest posters I've ever seen since posting on MLB boards over a decade ago.

No disrespect the OP, who presumably was just having a little fun, but these "Rays Fanboys" threads/discussions need to stop. Continue discouraging appreciation for baseball in general and it's only a matter of time until this board becomes intolerable as its predecessor.

I'm really just having fun... I full expect the jays at some point to drop 18 of 25 and have this thread thrown in my face.... which of course is part of the fun.

Second... Did you feel the same way about the Rays fan boys with the constant posting about how great the rays were. You're complaining about 2 or 3 threads..... the problem with the old board was there were 4 or 5 junk threads every 2 hours.... most by some version of dogg.... that bordered on the insane.

I don't think anyone has a problem with people rooting on other teams or being fans of more then the Jays......

Hurl could work in baseball.... and probably should.....

I'm really just having fun. I admire the Rays too (not a fan boy).

Come on Rays fan boys... make your case. Tell us why you want back in. Don't give up... You still have until Thursday evening when the polls close. Don't give up yet.

You'd think this board would be rocking with activity seeing as we're 4.5 games up in June but it seems a little stagnant lately.

The majority of the posts were always negative and referred back to the 2013 offseason (and subsequently the lack of movement in the 2014 offseason). When we were losing in 2013 the negative posts just piled on and heck, all the negative posts were probably warranted. Now that posting negative when so much good is happening just doesn't fit the narrative right now, it's as if those same posters don't care to write much anymore. I hate to say it, but if the team starts losing again perhaps we'd see an increase in activity?

And I'm not even talking about Rays fans, you can't really blame them for not posting a lot on a Jays board when their team is in the toilet. Just all the posts with a negative tone just don't really fit in to what's going on with the team right now and rather than post something other than what was once considered a "disastrous" 2013 offseason or Yunel Escobar or the RA Dickey trade which happened two offseasons ago the posts have just dried up. Hopefully that changes.

And the Rays have scored a grand total of 2 runs in their last 4 games.

Hey Maddon - let's see you pull rabbits out of your ass now buddy

I'm no Friedman/Rays lover but you should probably stop using the word overrated. After calling Longoria overrated you kind of lost any credibility when proclaiming someone overrated.

Thanks tips. Unfortunately basically every player on the Rays is overrated as far as this message board goes. So, I'll stop using the word when I talk about other teams. For example, the Orioles aren't overrated. They have a nice offense and terrible starting pitching, but everyone here knows that, so they're rated about right. Please tell me how Wil Myers isn't overrated here... many posters who want Friedman's nuts think he will be a stud and I think that is overrated by most MLB analysts/scouts.

Ok, I'm officially lowering my previous estimate of season wins for the Rays from 74-76 down to 68-70. This is going to get ugly. Turns out that the under ?? on the Rays and over 78 on the Jays were pretty good bets this season, almost a lock and we're only 60 games in.

I'm thinking 70-74 on the Rays. But I could be totally wrong and they could win 87, knowing them. Who f***ing knows. Baseball is weird. (And awesome sometimes. When the Jays win, mostly.)
