Bunchedundies Verified Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Unfortunately, he was being sarcastic. But a decent amount of K's and no walks is promising, like you said, only 10% of flyballs should be homeruns, lol @ people saying he's lucky not to have given up 4 or 5. LOL at disagreeing he has been lucky to not have given up 3-4, meatball central.

I like Hendriks, I wish he mixed a few more off speed stuff in though.
Convo Verified Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Calm down Buck, that Buchholz injury is probably the best thing to happen to them this season. Guys always seem to conveniently get injured when they're sucking
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Lawrie just missed that
deepz Verified Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 The Tampa commentators yesterday said something along the lines of: "Hitting isn't new to the Jays, it goes back to Cito. Actually it goes back to a man named Dwayne Murphy who turned things around for a lot of hitters here in Toronto"
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Thank you. He's pitching like a #3 starter. Even if some of the deep flies were doubles or triples, he'd still be able to strand 70% of those runners. Not walking anyone has helped his cause a lot too. Defense has been great but Hendriks is doing his part. All you can ask for from a #5 is that he throws strikes and attacks hitters. Hendriks did that. Got insanely lucky and this is clearly unsustainable but we can do better.

Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 wtf why did they pull Hendriks?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I like Hendriks, I wish he mixed a few more off speed stuff in though. Me too, on the Longoria hit he had him fooled with two straight changeups, but I don't think it was good game calling to have him throw another one as soon as he did. He appeared to have pretty decent control of his breaking pitches, good sign.

It's not just promising, it's two of the three things a pitcher can do to keep runs off the board. Hendriks is doing his job.
