"To Seitzer, each at bat deserves a different approach; depends of the inning, the runners, the score"

Buck was saying a few days ago how Bautista said everyone in Dominican watches the Blue Jays. I know it's hyperbole but is it true? Are the games on Deportes or do they have to listen to Buck

I really really like Seitzer. He's amazing.

Yesterday Buck said that Seitzer has designed a regimented BP that each hitter follows. Previously they just trying to crank bombs.

Bucks***.

Bautista called his fans to vote for Edwin for the All-Star.

It's a great sign for the Jays. it's a clash to what they have taught through the org previously and that can be met with resistance. He's won over the org from that sounds of it. Makes you wonder how bad it was that they didn't even change their approach from AB to AB.

Sad but probably isn't far from the truth.

Batting practice with Murphy and Cito would've been quite funny to watch.

You can't stop batting practice until you hit 10 homeruns. Goins would never be allowed to go home.

I was going to bring this up. I have seen some stats that they are taking more pitches as a team. Is there any analytical proof they are changing their philosophy at the plate?
Posted

Its easy to make positive generalization about Seitzer's impact when we are on a roll, but part of the reason we are on this roll imo is a change of approach at the plate.

We have Lawrie, Navarro Edwin and Jose etc driving the ball up the middle or beating the shift in key situations. The 2 bombs Lind and Juan hit were textbook swings taking those pitches away getting loft. How long has it been since we have seen this here?

Time and time again they are coming through in key situations not trying to do too much. And other times when they get their pitch they are gripping and ripping pulling the hell out of the ball like Edwin's last night.

Its very impressive stuff and props to Seitzer and the team for buying in.

I love North Korean State Run Media (Rogers) when the team is struggling with hitting or pitching. Fans will suggest that they fire the hitting or pitching coach, and the talking heads will swear on God, Children, Wife, and Country that its the players who need to perform, and it has nothing to do with the hitting or pitching coach. Then when the team is hitting or pitching well, all you hear is how great Seitzer is. Approach this, approach that, he's taught them this, he's taught them that... fing annoying.

Its a balance man. As I said its easy to sing his praises as Dr. Genius drinking the kool-aid when we are winning. But the proof in the pudding is in the eating and the boys are putting a hurting on that ball in a lot of different ways, other than just pulling it. Part of that cred should go to Seitzer.

Don't get me wrong, I was not commenting either way on whether Seitzer has had an impact in that post. I was just pointing out how the topic is treated by the media, Sportsnet guys especially. I actually do think Seitzer has had an impact, and it is rather noticeable. Youre correct that it is a balance, in that the players have to buy-in, and carry out the approach with success, which fortunately they have been.

I remember someone who posted something showing that Seitzer might actually be worth quite a few wins (in the offseason) based on his time with the Royals. What thread did that post come from?

Seitzer deserves some credit sure, but the reason our offense is killing it is because we have been healthy for the most part. Last year Bautista, Reyes, Rasmus and Melky all missed a couple months. I think EE was hurt too.

We have great hitters, they just need to stay healthy and we will see good results.
