Yeah, I had Grissom high on my list but I checked the Savant page and his max exit velocity is in the 29th percentile. Is that a concern? I'm not great at reading advanced stats so I'm not sure how he compares in other areas.

Bad offer for Betts

Yeah, the team is young and won't compete for a few years, so Betts will be 33 or 34 years old by the time it's competitive. The team's biggest weakness is 1st base (who Vaughan or Tork could cover) and pitching. So I wasn't sure if the upside of these players in a couple years would be worth giving up Betts now.

And if you think that trade request was bad, the only other one I got for Betts was Melendez (when my team has Moreno, and Contreras), Civale, and Houck. Lol.

Yeah, the team is young and won't compete for a few years, so Betts will be 33 or 34 years old by the time it's competitive. Vaughn and Torkelson are fine, it is reasonable to anticipate one or the other will break out to an annual 30 HR bat, work on upgrading the pitching part of the offer.

Torkelson is a rapidly declining asset and has a projection that is not any better than Ji Man Choi or Garret Cooper.

 

Really I think it only looks viable in a league that is EXTREMELY deep. So it depends on league depth.

 

But I think in almost every league I'd just hold Betts for now, if those were the offers.

 

You can find 1B/OF types on the wire that hit like Tork and Vaughn. You can fish for emerging SP too.

He also mentioned Ranger Suarez, but I didn't think he was relevant enough to even include in the trade. I might be able to convince him to trade his first overall pick for my 3rd round, and then I could get Painter.

 

So it could be Vaughan, Tork, Springs, Painter, Bello and Suarez, for Betts and a 3rd round pick.

 

This league has the trading option, but there are rarely ever any trade requests. Very frustrating.

Does anything Tork did in college factor into projections? I assume not?
