Agreed. Bad teams become worse because they lose interest and rarely make moves or are even active during the summer. Nobody for contenders to trade with.

 

Increased talent in the waiver wire would increase engagement. More opportunity to add a decent player.

 

I’d consider dropping the RP slots to two too. Then you’d be drafting 10 players each spring to fill out your roster. If you go 5x5 there is no need for holds. This semi redraft would allow teams to compete almost every year.

Part of differentiating the league would be making it less nerdy in my opinion

As a general comment I do get the sense that interest in our board dynasty leagues is waning, or at least at a low point.

 

I do think it would make sense to implement some big changes such as owner reduction, rule changes, league amalgamations. Maybe BORED and BBDL should work together for some kind of joint solution, whatever that is. Nobody should be shy about big changes.

 

I see Spanky said that it's just winter but no... I think this is a bit different.

Beefing up the rosters a little should do that. Cut the milb draft in half as you mentioned. Gives bottom teams a chance to compete with add-ons and random debuting prospects

I think BORED and BBDL just have stupid league names. Poor branding is the issue.

 

But really, probably just one too many leagues were spun up back in the day and it was never sustainable. There were people here who signed up for 3 or 4 of them - that's f***ed up and would never last, particularly when they are 20 and 30 player dynasty leagues with full year involvement and prospect drafts and all that s***.

 

L54 is right that the solution is basically culling owners from one or maybe two of the leagues.

Can someone please convince me to NOT blow over 10% of my budget on keeping Jordan Romano. I think he's going to have a huge year and owning a lockdown CL on your favorite team is fun. I also have few needs and CL is one of them. But still, he's a CL so it seems wrong.

Buy-in and Dynasty just don't go together. Multi year rebuilds are no longer worth it but so many Dynasty players love them.

I wouldn't, I have Davis over Carroll... But remember, I am just one of many scrubs on an internet chat board... However, I think if you did some deep dives, you would come to the same conclusion. Although, with those two, I don't think there is much separation.

Carroll has the higher floor, Davis the higher ceiling - the question is whether Davis will have a swing and miss issue that will limit the ceiling. Most evaluators believe he will continue to develop and adapt and the swing and miss will be addressed.

 

Generally go with the big power guy, which is Davis.

18 team h2h dynasty - my team includes Vlad, Tatis Jr, Acuna, Eloy, Torkelson, so I'm ready to compete now

Last two spots on my roster comes down to Corey Kluber, JJ Bleday, Ryan Weathers, and Genesis Cabrera.

The only reason Cabrera is on this list is I've only kept two RP (Hader and Romano), but I spent a first round pick a couple years back on Bleday (passing on Riley Greene), and I'd hated to compound that error by leaving him unprotected and having him breakout for someone else.

Kluber vs Weathers three years from now is a no brainer, but I'm afraid I'll be attempting to trade for a Kluber at the deadline if I keep Weathers over him.

Since you’re competing I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to protect Bleday in case he breaks out.

 

I’d probably keep Kluber and Cabrera. Kluber signing with the Rays is a confidence boost for 2022.
