How are ya doing?

Starting with a 10$ bankroll is a little dumb just because if you're confident with your strategy you could lose it right away. Goodluck though, man! Hope you start off hot to sustain the random loses.

I was actually only trying to do the one NBA pool cause it had a massive pay out but I needed to do a $10 deposit. Tampa/Florida isn't going well for me but my big investment was the Leafs/Caps game tonight so we'll see how that goes lol.

30 points with 10 periods left! Not too bad.

Gonna start looking into 50/50's, figuring out what the f*** they are and how to win every time, and the such.

The Dangle Factory optimal lineup is a good start. Don't know the updated stats but it was around 70% cashing. When I do play now, I do a 50/50 or double up. Then jig the lineup for the $1 or $2 tourney.

Do they actually have some sort of optimal lineup feature? I just used the projections on their own.

Going with Holtby versus the Leafs was a wise choice, lol. Also gonna win $5 for literally nothing thanks to that site jayzfan69 suggested^^^^^ so thanks to him.

I have done Dangle Factory twice so not that the sample really matters but i came 2nd last in 1 50/50 and just missed the other 50/50.

I'm sure if i played more i would win though.

I saved the Dangle Factory standings that Nox posted before the start of the season (because the Habs were last and I knew that was BS). I'll post it at the end of the year, but enough said they are WAAAAAAY off. I could have done better guessing.

The 50/50's look easily enough to learn the game while not going broke. Are the tournaments worth investing in ?

Much like Poker, in tournaments you are looking to cash high up (a win is huge). But winning is really, really tough and you play very differently (not the optimal lineup likely as you'd like a stacked line or powerplay in hockey) My buddy Rob has had great success in tourneys, considering he doesn't play that much and after his success he didn't really up his entry fees. here is his results summary

https://rotogrinders.com/profiles/rrmack34

But without those couple big wins (January 31st he won the hockey, I think that was $1000, and just last week he had a 4th in hockey and forth in basketball tourneys), he's having great success but take away those big wins and he's doing worse than the 50/50 or double up grinders. If you are playing for fun...do the tourneys. If you are trying to make money and don't mind working a long time to get up there...play the grinding method. Or do the combo of the two.

Didn't know you could link your accounts on Rotogrinders... I just signed up but I guess it's not retroactive so it doesn't show my FD stuff from last season (imagine it links to a daily XML feed).

So your buddy was 1st out of 14,367 in a Tournament??? Well done. If only it was a bigger entry fee (than $2).

Can't wait to get playing again on FD!

Edit: Just read their FAQ and the FD results update once a week or so.

Yeah first out of 14.3K. He just corrected me that it's $2000 he won. Even with that he has just continued playing the smaller tourneys. I suppose that's a good thing (especially since I have been in Vegas with him several times and I know how crazy he can get).

It's a good thing for sure. That's the trap of gambling: you win big once, and you keep thinking you can duplicate it again, when it doesn't happen you start betting bigger and more frequently.

First fan duel entries tonight, pretty excited.

Curious to see which team has more success: The danglefactory optimal lineup in hockey or my handpicked basketball line up

I'll give you 100 to 1 odds that your basketball team will have more points. lol. Hell...a single player on your basketball team might get more points then a hockey lineup. lol

Edit: You said "success" not "points" I'm dumm.

haha. Went 4/4 anyway, with a 5584 finish out of a about 85k entries in the single tourny. not bad for a debut.

I've started to get into it and I'm really enjoying it.

How are you picking your lineups? Anything special (such as matchups, players in slaughters, who's hot etc) or just going with your gut?

Depends what you're playing.

Definitely play matchups. Pick on EDM, BUF, TOR, CAR, DAL, etc. 50/50s and Tournaments necessitate different types of teams. Goalies are expensive so most of the time I just grab the cheapest guy getting a start and use the saving on player upgrades.

4 basic rules:

1) Pick a cheap goalie. Goalie true talent levels are really scrunched together (ev sv% takes like 3 full seasons to stabilize). Also, cheap goalies are also often those who project to face the most shots which you will reap the benefit of.

2) Pick on bad opponents with your skaters.

3) Ignore perceived hot streaks.

4) Adjust the number of skaters per team you have based on the game type you're in. Stacking players is the easiest way to tune your lineup's variance. 50-50s you don't want too many players on the same team. Tourneys you should almost never field a lineup with skaters for more than 2 teams.

Random comment: DraftKings' software is far superior and if you're only going to play on one platform, I would suggest it over FanDuel. Volumes on the two sites are similar for NHL.

Yea, I was more referring to the mobile apps.

FanDuel's lag in live scoring is pretty terrible across clients.

How much time does it take each day to manage? I might start playing during baseball season.

Hardly any time at all. Filling out a proline ticket would take more time.

Not necessarily true, if you just want to slap a line-up together for fun it obviously doesn't take any time but if you want to build the line-up with the best chance to win that definitely does take time.... at least in the beginning it takes time until you figure out short cuts and develop automated methods (depending on the tools you're using).
