Jays: Drew Hutchison was hit hard in his only home start, but he's yet to allow a run over 11 1-3 innings in his two on the road. However, he's received just one run of support in his last two outings. The Blue Jays bullpen set a franchise record by issuing eight walks during the eighth inning of Thursday night's loss to the Twins. Steve Delabar, Sergio Santos and J.A. Happ combined to allow six runs on eight walks, three wild pitches and just one hit as Toronto blew a two-run lead. It was the first time a team walked that many batters in one inning since the Orioles did it on April 19, 1996. Melky Cabrera had his 14-game hitting streak come to an end during Game 1 of Toronto's doubleheader vs. the Twins. Cabrera was the only player in franchise history to record a hit in the club's first 14 games of the season. Indians: Justin Masterson has given up 12 runs - 10 earned - 14 hits and walked eight over 15 1-3 frames in his last two outings. On Saturday, he was charged with six runs, seven hits and five walks in 4 2-3 innings of a 12-6 win at the Chicago White Sox. Masterson is 2-0 with a 1.30 ERA in his last four starts against the Blue Jays. He's also 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in three starts versus Toronto since joining the Indians. Cleveland also won four of the six meetings last season. The Jays hope to turn their fortunes around in the next 3 days with Reyes coming back tomorrow. Indians designated hitter Lonnie Chisenhall was 4-for-4 at the plate against Detroit on Thursday, improving his average to .522 (12-for-23) on the season. He's now 6-for-8 since rejoining the club April 13 following the birth of his son. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Tough test for Hutchison tonight. That Cleveland lineup is deep and dangerous. Looking forward to seeing Masterson too. He's been terrible so far this year though Hope he keeps it up. We usually struggle mightily against him.
admin Site Manager Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Masterson 5.87ERA 1.7WHIP, I see a one hitter in our future.
torontofan Verified Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Hate when the Jays face Masterson! Even though he is off to a rough start, he always seems to dominate the Jays.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 All good this time? Yessir! Poll up and running, thank you for your help as always
bzapple Verified Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Masterson is really tough on right handed batters, too bad we don't have Lind.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Yessir! Poll up and running, thank you for your help as always You're on parole, and officers GD and myself are not very forgiving, better make use of this second chance that Gsnarls has given you
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Although I don't really care about Goins or Diaz, I'd rather keep Diaz just because of that bunt he had a few games ago and because Goins has failed two hit and runs miserably. I hope Goins is down but that is a lot of pressure on AA early.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 This is a tough call. Cleveland has not actually been a good team as of late. They're aren't hitting (Swisher, Cabrera, Santana and Kipnis are struggling), they sent down Nyjer Morgan just because of Michael Bourn's awful contract(he SHOULD be up in the majors right now.) And outside of Zach McAllister, all of their pitchers have been hit around and/or have control problems. BTW, I know somebody related to John Axford, the Indians closer.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Do we get to see the ancient jason giambi this series? lol
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Short leash I take it? lol Let's just say you're lucky you got to keep the avatar.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Masterson's not that good. A FIP of 4.29 is not a good thing. Plus, considering his control issues, the Jays have a good shot to take advantage.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Nope. Giambi's on the DL, and the Indians have no backup C with Santana playing 3rd (hurting too, BTW), and like the Jays, are carrying 8 relievers.

I hope Goins is down but that is a lot of pressure on AA early. The first effort was 100% his fault. The 2nd attempt, i don't think it was his fault, the ball was really far away from him, he just couldn't reach it.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 By that I meant that Nyjer Morgan should be up here, because he was outplaying Bourn, but the Indians, like the Jays, want to carry 13 pitchers, and prefer to play the guy they gave 4/48 a year ago, thinking he'd continue the strong numbers he had in Atlanta. (Braves say thank you to the Indians for getting them Jason Hursh, who is on the fast track to Atlanta, as he is currently dominating in AA.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Understood. We were all frustrated. I almost wanted to throw something at the TV when the Jays kept walking batter after batter. I don't expect it to continue tonight, however. It won't be cold, as it's expected to be in the 50s tonight.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Carrasco has been terrible so far this year. You also forgot that Buehrle pitches Saturday.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 what's the weather supposed to be like? we aren't going to have our pen throw like 8 year girls again tonight... are we?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 our bench is Diaz and Thole with AA not willing to make the move to put Lind on the DL. aint that just peachy
kgm1 Verified Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 our bench is Diaz and Thole with AA not willing to make the move to put Lind on the DL. aint that just peachy which is why we need to get our starters going 7 innings . We just can't run with a 3 man bench but with what our BP did yesterday we will need the 8 men .
