I went with Stieb's slider but really it's probably Clemens fastball...difference being that Stieb relied on that slider so much more than Clemens did with the FB. The most glaring omission was BJ Ryan's fastball. I don't think I've seen a low 90's fastball that was less hittable (pre-injury of course)

It's too hard to compare when some of them haven't pitched in ages. Stieb, Clemens, Hanke would probably all have a lot more votes if they pitched recently. Too long ago for me to remember.

From '04 to '06 BJ Ryan was a very bad man.

It was a stupid amount of money to pay, but holy s*** his 2006 was fun to watch.

Considering he was a low 90's guy, and really only threw in an occasional slider it was truly impressive.

He didn't do it consistently (only saw it a handful of times), but Halladay earlier on in his career threw a couple mid 90's sinkers that acted like forkballs.

I really think this poll needs to be split up into one for each pitch type.

I was going to mention Halladay's sinker. Nasty. I went with Morrow's slider. When he could hit 90/91 with it. Awesome stuff.

The anti B.J. Ryan was Billy Koch. Guy threw so insanely hard. Harder than anyone in this group. I remember thinking he should be unhittable and yet remarkebly he was very, very hittable. The usual explanation was that his fastball even though it topped 100 was very straight.

Fastball: Clemens

Slider: Santos

Split: League HM Delabar

Curve: Burnett HM Halladay

Change: Marcum

Knuckle: Dickey

Cutter: Halladay

Two Seam: Alvarez?

Sinker: League (not sure whether they were sinkers or two seamers in general, but they had the movement of both).

Invent-a-pitch: Cone (wish we had seen him as a Jay in his prime)

Eephus: Lilly

Anyone remember what Hentgen's best pitch was?

The called strike fastball a foot off the plate. Unhittable (unreachable too), and he was a master at expanding the zone to get it.

Aquilino Lopez's slider was the filthiest pitch I've ever seen a Jay throw. I've been watching since '94 and no other pitch is even in its league. Just devastating break. Unfortunately for Aquilino he couldn't command his fastball, let alone his slider.

The absolute filthiest pitch to ever be thrown from a Blue Jay. I didn't watch baseball before the 90's so can't really name any past that.

If the name is not on the list you select other and write-in your vote.

*Not serious

Stieb's slider was amazing. I still remember the game/play where he got hurt. Was never the same after that, slider never broke the same. With Halladay a close second Stieb is my all-time favorite JAYS pitcher. I loved Roger Clemens as a kid, but even though he pitched for the JAYS don't really consider him a JAY as much.

Honorable mention to BJ Ryan's fastball in 2006. Fangraphs has it quite high. Guy didn't have much velocity but that herky jerky delivery with the ability to hide the ball was pretty effective.

Marcum's change up in prime is not getting enough love. It was downright FILTHY in 2010.

This is true, probably a top 3 changeup at the time. I think SP wise we are underrating Morrow's slider, that's a filthy pitch and even when he's not on the slider gets its fair share of swings and misses. And the fact that Halladay's sinker hasn't been brought up often is worrisome.

Dave Stieb was the reason I started throwing a slider as a kid.

In his healthy years McGowan's slider was ridiculous for a starting pitcher.

I still think Santos's slider is up there, and that monster Lilly curve - slow, huge break and would still somehow catch the zone.

Rod barajas had very little movement behind the plate. Looking back he was a damn fine catcher.

He does look sharp. Looking back it seems like the Jays had a run where they lucked out with good framing catchers before their impact had been quantified.

Not sure about filthiest pitch, but I gotta go with Rasmus for sweetest swing ever.

Good idea for my next poll
