Is it wrong to hope he fails, so in turn his leash will be shortened and he might be replaced by one Mr. Drew?

Yes, if he fails and his leash will be shortened, he will be replaced by Mr. Izturis.

That's true but he also struck out a lot more than usual in spring training. At the same time, Buck said EE had a weak April last year too, maybe he's a slow starter.

We have a winner! Then maybe we should give Ryan goins two full years in the majors before we begin this debate not after the first two games of a new season! Mama let em play !

I brought this up during the spring. Of course not time to panic yet, but seeing EE strike out a bunch after last year is a bit worrisome if only for the reason he had off-season wrist surgery at the end of last year. Lots of people believe (probably rightly so) that EE's wrist injuries kept him from being a better hitter for many years.

Just because the team didn't talk about it much doesn't mean off-season wrist surgery is a non-issue. Of course people will here will act like just musing about a possible issue means I am "hitting the panic button" or something.

EE probably is experiencing residual pain from getting hit on the forearm and his hand. He'll be fine.

He has looked better than EE so far

The wrist obviously bears watching. He has struggled with it throughout much of his career, and having surgery on a wrist is always a risky proposition (short-term, if not long-term).

He was actually striking out less often this spring than he had been in the previous 2 years. But, yes, he started out slowly last year (though not 4 Ks in 8 ABs slowly, but still slowly). His full April ended up being OK, but he struck out at least once in 10 straight games last year, following the Opener, had 3 straight 2 K games in that span (games 4-6), and 7 games into the season he had only 2 hits, 1 being a HR (for a .379 OPS).

That makes me feel a bit better I guess... He'll be fine

Wait, Ryan Goins is a tranny?

I was just looking for a photo of someone looking thoroughly unimpressed. Clearly I'm too old for posting funny pictures on the Internet. I should leave that to Angrioter.

Go to CespedesFamilyBBQ and look for the "Berkman face" pic. It's perfect for this job.

Gibbons utilizing Goins to the proper way. Reducing the number of PA to a below the replacement level player.

I like the lineup... Lind off the bench in the late innings sounds good.

WTF?

Then sit Bautista and Edwin

Too bad Kratz isn't there but I guess Gibbons is under contractual obligation to pretend Sierra's useful. (Watch him hit a homerun now that I've reverse jinxed him.)

Without knowing any personal numbers against Archer I like Melky in CF.Mostly because I don't think Gumps 100% health.

Unless he hits Archer well Gump batting second is a fck up by Gibbons imo.

It's Moore today and Colby is 1 for 10 against him

I think I just made your point :)
