Who the effing eff is THAT dude? I'm talking about our own Olerud_363. Praying to anyone/anything else would just be weird.

That's John Olerud. Calm guy. Good hitter. Occasionally great. Was Ted Williams for the first 4 months of 93.

This is me. Chilling out. Keeping calm. Smokin some cigs. Nothing stronger, thanks. But to each their own. Whatever calms you down.

That is my sweet machine. Chasis is old. But don't let that fool you. The old frames are the only ones that can fit the cooling system I invented. That thing is totally pimped. 4 GTX 780s. Intel Phi 60 core co-processor. All over-clocked.

I really hope Smedley was trolling. The thought that there's a generation of Jays fans who don't even recognize John Olerud gives me the sads.

by the way that's not a dot matrix printer. It's a customized 3d printer I built from spare parts. I'm working on a way to print ligaments for TJ replacement. No idea if it will work or not. I'm not a f***in doctor. And no, it ain't going to help Jose Fernandez anytime soon. With this kindof s*** you have to experiment on mice and stuff first. I don't know the experimental process exactly. Just know it takes years. I'm just the computer guy and I hand off the printed out ligaments and s*** to the Doctors. They deal with the other part.

Fret not, at 31 I am plenty old and decrepit enough to remember him, although to be honest I always thought that Howard Battle was the superior hitter, not that I wish to revisit THAT particular issue. Best to let sleeping whores lie.

Sooooo, at what point can I get excited without someone making a thread like this?

I'm currently waiting for the other shoe to drop #stillworriedandpensive

Getting excited is does not allowed. Calmness is the Official Religion of the Tarranna Blooo Hyyays for now and evermore, and Olerud is it's High Priest. Get with the program, shoot up some heroin, gulp some xanax smoothies, and above all, remain Calm.

It's less than a third of the way into the season, and it's still in the midst of a winning streak. There are often bounce backs following an extreme streak one way or the other. If it's late June and they're extending their lead, or at least maintaining it, get excited. For now, just watch and enjoy while you can.

Last year we won 11 in a row and barely pushed .500...then we went on an epicly bad stretch of losses. This year has a different feel and we are healthier. Enjoy it while we can and brace for some rollback. Lets just hope its isolated and not in bunches and we continue to win most series.

I agree with the all of the above except making me High Priest.

I am just a bipolar guy with a really pimped up computer. I post stupid s*** and crave attention.

JSFIP started this thread. He is the one who told everyone to calm down. JSFIP deserves to be a cult figure.

Where is he anyway?? He came, he had his say, and apparently he left. Maybe he went out with Smedley one night and never came home. Maybe he is in a third world country helping out.

Maybe he was just an ordinary guy living an ordinary life and just wanted to make one point and leave it at that.

I understand that you're one of the biggest cynics on here about the Jays ( there are others, Georgia Peach for example ); it feels better to believe it's temporary success and that your analysis about this team is more important then how they play. But in reality, the signs that this is a good team have been there since week 3, and strengthened in early May. The lesson here may be you were a little late to the party to see this.

Very different. Last years streak we were already in a hole (27-36) when it started and we ended out 38-36.............2 games over .500!

This years streak we started at 23-22, and now we are 31-22.

Yup, like I said "last year we won 11 in a row and barely pushed .500". I also think this year we are healthier and have a better plate approach overall. Playing better D too even with the roster moves and platoons.

Dear Father Olerud363,

Please let your calmness reign over these young Jays fans.

Amen.

We need our ruler of calmness, JSFIP, to make an appearance in a time like this.

You'd better have been wearing your fielding helmet while saying that.

I'm calmly enjoying watching the Jays gradually march to the division title like it's 1985.

85?? In 85 Mattingly tried to stop us and couldn't. Then George Brett tried -- that f***er stopped us.

In 2014 nobody will stop us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We win f***ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, lost the calmness for a second there. What I meant to say was enjoy it in a calm and responsible fashion. Somebody or something could stop us at any moment. The Jays could stop themselves. Or maybe it will go on like this for another 100 games and we will win 110. Or maybe we won't. Who knows. Keep calm.

Not sure where JSFIP is these days. Here is some classic JSFIP to tide you over until he is back.

From thread "Walks are overrated"

"Go ahead, disagree with me. I'm sure all of you sabermetrics idiots will instantly. It's the truth, that's all. SOOOOOOOO overrated by everyone on this board."

Posted

I turned in last night around 9pm, and after saying a brief prayer to Olerud I was soon asleep, with fond dreams of vaginas flowing forth from my subconscious. I assure you my brothers, I was thus in a deep state of Calm when our beloved Bloo Hyyays achieved the heretofore impossible level of 10 games above .500, praise be to Olerud, praise be to Calm.

Amen.

Still no sign of JSFIP. Time for a serious search I think. Wish me luck. I'm going to have to look in some pretty strange and disturbing places, like the old board at bluejays.com, the Mike Wilner chat, maybe even DJF....

In the mean time another gem from JSFIP

"Currently Emilio Bonifacio is in first in the entire league in WAR. We used to have him. Ahead of Mike Trout. Why did we let this guy go?"

Posted

Calm down Olerud. This thread is out of control now that people are seeing that I was RIGHT all along. So yes, stay calm. We're in first and there will be some amazing laughs at the end of the season when we stay in first and remember how everyone freaked out just like I said.
