lol. It looks like he has some nice raw power. And he can't be any worse than JPA defensively so you need to throw the #toptencatcher at Kratz.

Kratz has looked all spring like a better player than Thole in every way

 

Dickey is essentially bringing Thole along for the ride

because we are a f***ing gong show with brainless f***s making the calls! AA has to f***ing go, he is a bean counter disguised as someone who knows anything about baseball. until he goes we are embarrassingly stuck in last place in the A.L. east, maybe the league. thole isnt good enough for AAA, but since he sucks Dickeys dick hes on the team, Kratz has to stay up wether Dickey likes it or not

I thought Thole looked pretty good receiving Dickey. Outside of the WP, which was a tough, tough play Thole was solid.

 

Did you mean Dickey deserve 2 damn spots on the 25-man roster?

 

Then, trade Dickey for s*** and DFA Thole.

Dickey seemed to lose a fair number of strikes, but I don't know how much of that is Thole's fault.

 

Anyway, nothing new happened today on the backup catcher front. Kratz has been the best option all along.

Ultimately the Thole/Kratz dichotomy is a bit of a false one. The best for the Jays is to carry three catchers and give Navarro half the DH platoon.

Just funny how Thole is supposed to be Dickey's caddy, and with him Dickey has a horrendous season opener where he walks more than be ever did in 2013.

Did Michael Taylor clear? I would have traded a pitcher to get him. I certainly would take him if he's just sitting there. A Taylor/Gose platoon might actually be a serviceable 2015 CF scenario.

When could Happ be reinstated? Dunno if the DL move was retroactive

I don't know about Taylor in CF, but he's almost certainly a better player than Sierra. I don't know whether or not he cleared.

 

He was only officially DFA'd by the A's yesterday/2 days ago IIRC. I don't think he cleared yet

If he's still on waivers then yeah. I actually think that it should go like:

 

1. Claim Taylor

2. Assign Kratz

3. Reinstate Happ

4. DFA Jeffress

5. Recall Kratz

 

Kratz is great but we can afford to miss him for like 10 days. It saves an option year on Thole. (This is dependent on my memory being right and us having used an option on Kratz).

Who cares about saving options on Thole? Thole's trash. Kratz caught Dickey better in ST than Thole. We don't need 3 catchers

We haven't actually burned an option year on Kratz. But he's like 34, so who gives a f***, lol.
