First reports said he climbed the railing to get people to do the wave.

^ Seems more likely.

Jesus Christ, the dude was 40 too, you would think that he'd have a better thought process

Assuming booze played a big factor lol

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Has it ever happened at the rogers centre? The 500 level bars aren't that high, especially when the 500s are full of drunk fighting casuals.

Drunk casuals barely even make it to the 4th inning though.

I'm surprised we don't see guys falling down the upper decks at parks. Especially when they reach for foul balls. The fences seem pretty low.

Expect this to happen at least 5 times at the home opener this week.

Drunken casuals are the worst. They need to have higher railings and better security in the upper sections.

Are the railings that low that someone falls walking to their seats?

Here's a picture I took today

It's a pretty terrible design as you can see

Maybe whoever designed the stadium strongly believed in natural selection.

Nah. It's Montreal. I'm like 99% sure that they had a wicked-awesome design originally planned only to see corrupt officials siphon off 50% of the budget.......and then this POS was all they could afford at the end.

"In mid-November 2006 the stadium's costs were finally paid in full.[3] The total expenditure (including repairs, renovations, construction, interest, and inflation) amounted to C$1.61 billion, making it the second most expensive stadium ever built (after Wembley Stadium in London).[9] Despite initial plans to complete payment in October 2006, an indoor smoking ban introduced in May 2006 curtailed the revenue gathered by the tobacco tax.[3] Perceived by many to be a white elephant, the stadium has also been dubbed The Big Owe."

Classic f***ing Montreal.

THAT stadium is the SECOND MOST EXPENSIVE STADIUM EVER BUILT.

The experience was amazing due to the crowd and the Expos nostalgia which was very prevalent.

The stadium is a POS of epic proportions. If they ever hope to bring a team back they need a brand new one and everyone knows it.

To be fair it wasn't supposed to be a baseball field...but I agree that if they have any chance a new stadium is a must-have. It's a cool looking building IMO just not made for baseball.

Be assured that IF MLB ever returns to MTL, construction for a new stadium would have to start immediately after any deal to bring a team here is reached, if not simultaneously. There would also have to be a certain amount of pre-sold luxury boxes and season tickets thus showing support from the business community.

Lack of season tickets sold was always an issue, I think a large percentage of the crowds were walk-up ticket sales.

I seem to remember that they had sold a decent amount of luxury boxes and season tickets to the prospective stadium. Kind of telling that they sold more season tickets and luxury boxes to play in a prospective and unlikely downtown stadium than they did to play at the Big Owe.

Oh and they had also sold naming rights to Labatt's to call it "Labatt Park" which was also telling.

came out last week that they had budgeted a downtown venue with retractable roof with a price tag of 1 billion dollars. not sure who was going to pay for it, but I'd guess it will fall on tax payers as always. it would be interesting to see the design they have. Cromartie said around 30,000 seats. I think building one they are more likely to fill is far better than building one they never will.

I heard 33,000 and another 2,500 VIP box seating. All rounded numbers. Proposals are always nice but are nothing more until a deal is done.

Let's be realistic here. If the A's can't do anything with Oakland, San Jose or revisit Freemont, they will go to Portland.

Rays' ownership will keep trying to get out of St. Pete's and into Tampa or a surrounding county but SS's dream is a team in New Jersey at the Meadowlands. The Mets and Yankees would need sweetheart deals but let's not kid ourselves, that's his dream for the Rays. Montreal wins if St. Pete's continues to screw them and NJ can't be made to happen. Even then, beating out Charlotte would become the final hurdle.

I'm ignoring Hartford, Indy and Louisville. They just aren't happening.

I'd love to see a team in Vancouver. Not a big enough city population wise but a big enough city money wise. With the Canuckleheads being so abysmal maybe there is a tiny opening to get a baseball team in there.

Better chance of getting the NBA to return. They want into London, Paris, Las Vegas, St. Louis and now that Stern is gone, back into Seattle. Kansas City and Vancouver have been tossed around too.

Let's face it, even with them wanting out of Memphis, they're still going to end up with at least a 34 team league pretty soon and it'll probably be 36. Vancouver has a shot. With MLB-- 0% CHANCE!

And I know that this is off topic but it does touch on Vancouver getting an NBA team. I'll try to get this right. This was on ESPN last week. A vision for the post Stern NBA...

Boston/ New York/ Brooklyn/ Philadelphia/ London/ Paris

Detroit/ Chicago/ Indiana/ Milwaukee/ Toronto/ Cleveland

Miami/ Orlando/ Washington/ Charlotte/ Atlanta/ New Orleans

-------------------

Minnesota/ Dallas/ Houston/ OKC/ St. Louis/ San Antonio

Utah/ Portland/ Seattle/ Vancouver/ Denver/ ???

LA Lakers/ LA Clippers/ Sacramento/ Golden State/ Phoenix/ Las Vegas

Their question mark discussion covered New Mexico, Honolulu and San Jose and the idea of Memphis keeping their team, replacing OKC in one division and OKC filling the question mark. Kansas City in would do the same and OKC would fill the question mark slot. But they were pretty sure that the NBA will leave Memphis.

If this scenario is anywhere close to what the league is thinking, they almost need Vancouver.
